The power supply I use to connect the wireless charger is low wattage.
I guess 5W to 7.5W or 10W may be the limitation for the phone if it is made to an older standard
The charger may “officially support slow charging”, the lower wattage, but the Kompakt OS is too dumb to inform the charger that it requires lower wattage.
Have you tried the wireless charger with a low wattage power supply, 5V/1A (5 watt) or 5V/2A (10W)?
I can try but would prefer if someone could provide information of a charger that is confirmed working so I am not wasting money on buying a ton of chargers that don’t work! Do you have one that works for you and what is the brand?
I am sorry I cannot recommend a brand product, the specs from Mudita Kompakt are necessary for selection.
Finding a working wireless charger was trial and error, it’s an old wireless charger I purchased in 2020 and I have a low power usb power pack.
Qi wireless charging also doesn’t work on my Mudita Kompakt. I hear a half-second beep and vibration to indicate charging begins, then the beep stops and charging ends. I have a Slim Charging Pad with 17 W charger from Oakywood, which is compatible with all Qi devices with cases up to 4 mm thick.
@smuch Do you ever not have something to complain about? There is not a phone out there that includes a wireless charger out of the box. It would be nice if they could fix the compatibility issue / have a list of recommended compatible brands or even manufacture one that you could buy in the mudita store, but including one out of the box is just unrealistic.
A user named “smuch” is a highly active and regular contributor to the Mudita community. If you are looking for their specific thoughts, tips, or experiences regarding the minimalist phone, their posts cover several practical topics: [1, 2, 3]
Home Screen Shortcuts: They detailed how to quickly access the Alarm and Calendar just by tapping the time and date on the home screen. [1]
Stress Reduction: They shared that turning off the screen lock entirely (bypassing PINs and fingerprint sensors) made the phone much more relaxing and stress-free to use. [1]
App Inversion: They asked for (and found) instructions on how to invert the screen for certain sideloaded apps (like Spotify) that default to a glaring dark mode, which doesn’t display as well on an E-ink screen. [1]
App Management: They expressed that they keep their setup strictly basic, choosing to turn off features and minimize the number of apps to suit a calm lifestyle rather than relying on apps to track screen time. [1]
Prior Returns: Interestingly, they also chronicled their experience when the phone was first shipped, noting that they initially requested a refund before ultimately deciding to keep the device as a secondary tool. [1]
I use an older Anker stand wireless charger- and it works fine. i have also used non-branded pad wireless chargers with success. Wireless charging can be a little fiddly in general, and the off-centre location of the charging pad in the Kompakt can throw you off a little. I don’t use it much, as it creates a lot of heat and isn’t healthy for the battery in the long term. I charge with a good speed USBC cable via a 65"W GAN charger, twice a week is perfect for me.
Mudita shouldn’t include a wireless charger…it would increase the price of the product and many people wouldn’t want/need one. a USBC cable is now fairly universal, and therefore contributes to less e-waste and is a better standard.
the Kompakt OS is too dumb to inform the charger that it requires lower wattage.
not true at all, otherwise the device would take whatever wattage you gave it, overheat, and explode.
USBC charging negotiates power at a port level initially, and will only draw what’s required and safe from the charger. You should be able to use any charger and cable to charge your phone, as long as it meets the minimum power required, there is no upper power limit.
The core OS is Android, and this will handle things in the background.
If your wireless charging doesn’t work, raise a case and get a replacement, don’t make assumptions based on your own findings with your own single device.
crack on, discussing things with you on this forum feels like i wasted my money on a device to reduce stress…
It appears some wireless chargers work with the Kompakt and some do not - I don’t think the Kompakt has any wireless charging certification so chargers may need to be individually tested for compatibility. My belkin charger has the issue videoed in this thread, whereas a different charger I purchased does not.
