If been receiving most of my group text but not all. It seems the ones with more people work worse

I have found a solution that works for me regarding group messages not showing up and having a permanent notification number on the sms app. You need to block a number, then go into Settings → blocked numbers and remove it. Literally any phone number will work, you could probably just block and unblock 9999 or something. After doing this my group messages show back up. Not sure why this works but I was trying literally everything and found that this worked.

I’ve known for months that the Kompakt would not ship with group messaging. It was absolutely clear to me that it was a priority feature that would be implemented sometime after both launches. Where did you see group messaging at launch being advertised for the Kompakt?

I do not see blocked numbers in my settings, however I was able to block a spam caller then unblock. The group messages still do not show though, and my notifications is still at 9+. Any tips as to what else I may be missing? Thanks!

I believe that @jmash meant to BLOCK a number FIRST & then UNBLOCK it
Here’s a more straightforward workaround
- Open your Phone or Messages app.
- Block any number (a throwaway like “9999” is fine).
- Open Settings on your phone app.
- Go to Blocked numbers
- Find the number you just blocked and Unblock it.
- Reopen your SMS app. Your group messages should reappear, and the stuck notification badge should clear.
Notes & tips
- If you already use blocking, don’t unblock any numbers you truly want blocked—only remove the test number you just added.
- If the badge persists, try: force-closing the SMS app, then reopening; or restart your phone.
- This is a harmless “refresh” trick—no messages are deleted.
Ok I found it and did all you suggested but unfortunately the group messages never appeared and I still have 9+ unread. Thanks for trying! Hopefully the next update will clear it. I considered doing a factory reset on my phone but have hesitated because I’ll need to add all the phone numbers back in.

@tkbunch Have you tried sideloading an alternative sms app, like Quik SMS from F-drioid?
I have not, I will check it out. I did not know there were other apps that could do regular texting, and I don’t use WhatsApp or any of the others. Thanks!

@tkbunch Quik SMS seems to work well for people with Kompakt.
I can understand group messages not working yet…I guess. But can anyone help me figure out how to clear my message notifications? Really I would just appreciate for Group messages to work.

Group messaging seems to be working for me now that I figured out how to disable RCS by putting it in my old iphone and turning RCS messages off. But the “See Participants” does not do anything so I can only see the first two names of the people in the group. @urszula Is there that I can fix this?

@curtisafolsom Full support for Group Messages will be implemented in the next update, There’s no quick fix for it now.
