I’ve searched the threads and I see that others have wondered if the pre-order price includes VAT. There have been well-meaning responses from community members, but can we have some official clarification on this please?
It’s very simple. Does the price include VAT?
Extracting simple answers from Mudita is sometimes like getting blood from a stone. The technical specs on the website lacked all of the following information (and in some cases, still does):
Exact bluetooth spec. (The website lists it as 5.x. We know it’s officially 5.0)
Precise wifi standard (The website lists this as “wifi 5”. This means Wifi 5 b/g/n/ac.)
Exact PPI screen (The website still doesn’t mention this, but it’s been clarified on these forums as 226ppi).
Can Mudita do a better job of being exact, precise and transparent, please? It engenders trust and is professional. Slackness just breeds the opposite.
+1 on the VAT question, honestly I just placed an order and I’m not expecting any charges to follow :o
Regarding Wi-Fi, I’m involved in wireless a bit and it hurts me (metaphorically) that for the sake of consumer electronics marketing simplicity, the industry decided to invent those Wi-Fi 5-6-7-8-… labeling; whoever has any interest in Wi-Fi operations must understand basic differences between the bands and what 11n/ac/ax is if it’s to be anything beyond a self-comforting “I trust the device will have it done well” type of customer (I can imagine knowing too much can be painful, too). On the other hand, Wi-Fi 5 label has a clear meaning with no flavors or revision numbers in between. I’m all for indicating supported standard amendments though.
Yeah I have never been charged duties etc ever from Mudita when ordering any of their products to Canada so I don’t expect it when my Kompakt gets here
I can answer the VAT & Customs fee question. The price you see for Mudita Kompakt has VAT included in the price. All you pay for extra is shipping. All customs duties are covered by Mudita. If you do get a request to pay anything extra- please contact our customer service as soon as possible so that we can straighten it out.
This is what I LOVE about the company, no other company in the dumbphone space has ever covered my duties, I love knowing that the 488 canadian I paid for the phone back in October is all I am paying and now I just wait for my phone
You did. My memory must be slipping. Still, this information should be published officially by Mudita, not left fot customers to get out their calculators.
+1, whatever people compare in those phone comparison sites (like mgsm.pl in case of Poland) might help in case someone is really trying to learn or compare.
@disgruntlediphoneuse Sometimes, our users are just faster than us Sometimes they even reply when I’m sleeping, because of time 8-9 hour time difference
I appreciate you bringing this up, and we hear you. Precision matters, and trust is built on clarity. You’re absolutely right that specs and details should be easy to find and consistently communicated. That’s something we’re actively working on improving across the board.
This has been confirmed in several places on the forum, though I get that it’s not always easy to stitch things together from scattered threads.
Search bars can only go so far when time is short and patience thinner.
We’ll aim to get these consistently reflected on the product page. I’ll let the team know that this info does help.
