Hi I’m thinking of buying the Mudita Pure I have two questions

  1. Is the ringer loud enough
  2. In a low or no signal area , would the phone overwork overheat (trying to ping a non existent tower) causing the battery to overheat and go flat
The reason I ask is I returned a Punkt MP02 back for this very problem
and am I able to purchase one here in the Uk

I would say that currently the ringer is too low do to the available ringtones but if the phone gets the functionality to side load ringtones I feel this will improve.
I have never had an experience of overheating and draining in this situation.

I’m curious about the Pure & Kompakt. I’ve only recently begun research into simpler phone options. My situation is somewhat unique at home, in that I do not have wifi or cell service. But I do have ethernet.

Currently I will plug my iPhone into ethernet w/ adaptor when needing to get online at home. Would I be able to do this with Mudita phones? I see you can tether phone to computer, but it’s not clear to me if that would provide internet to the phone via tether? (or is it meant to be the other way around: the phone is providing cell signal to the computer).

Thanks!

@msnell89 Mudita Pure uses the data from the cell phone provider (through the SIM) to be used with a laptop. So, if you live in an area that does not have cell service, you would not be able to get online.
Mudita Kompakt is not out yet. The phone will also work with cell service.

is it possible the phone could use a laptop’s internet connection to send/receive while tethered?

I have a similar use case in that I would like to usb tether to an android tablet rather than a laptop. As far as I can see this is not possible. I bought two usb to ethernet adapters but the problem then seems to be that there is no way to initiate the tethering on the Mundita. Is there any known way to use the Mundita as a modem for (all) android devices?

I would like to be able to do it as well if it is possible. There are times when I have to connect it with another Android device

We sincerely value your feedback! Pure utilizes a cellular service provider for connectivity, which unfortunately doesn’t support messaging through a computer’s network. Moreover, Pure was not initially designed for direct connection to Android devices. Nonetheless, your feedback regarding potential connectivity enhancements is highly valued. Rest assured, I will ensure that your input is carefully shared with our development team for their consideration in future projects.

I’m looking for how to use the Pure as a hotspot. I have an e-ink tablet that needs wifi, and I would like to connect it to the internet through the Mudita Pure. How can I do this?

@dandelionc Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, Mudita Pure can only tether as a hotspot- meaning that you have to use a USB cable connected to the laptop. There is not way to create a wifi hotspot with Mudita Pure. This was not a feature that was planned in Mudita Pure due to the fact that Mudita Pure was intended to be a low-sar alternative for individuals who are concerned with EMF exposure.

@urszula I respect the low-emf design. I’ve got to learn new ways. if I get a usb c to usb c cable, is it confirmed to work as a tethered hotspot for android tablets?

@dandelionc I’m not sure how it works with all tablets & if your tablet has the types of modem to receive this type of signal. Other community members have discussed Bluetooth tethering.

There is a thread where this is discussed:

Subject: Inquiry About Native Mudita Center App for macOS (Apple Silicon)

Dear Mudita Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am considering becoming a user of Mudita Kompakt and am very impressed with your commitment to creating thoughtful products and software. While exploring the Mudita Center app, I noticed that it currently requires Rosetta 2 to run on macOS devices with Apple Silicon (M1/M2).

Does your team have any plans to develop a native version of Mudita Center for macOS, optimized for Apple Silicon and independent of Rosetta 2? If so, could you kindly share any tentative timeline or roadmap for this development?

Thank you for your time and efforts. I look forward to your response and to potentially joining the Mudita community!

Best regards, Victor.

@victorpure I will ask out team & get back to you.

@victorpure According to out tech team, we currently do not have plans for Mudita Center ARM native complied version for MacOS
Libraries we use for supporting Harmony and Pure are not ARM native as well, especially ones for transferring files
We would lose Harmony and Pure support.
TL;DR Preparing a native ARM version is not viable for us at the moment.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh wow I have an older mac and I think this completely removes me from owning a kompact as Rosetta 2 requires a Mac with Apple Silicon. Or does it only require Rosetta2 for newer Macs ?

Edit : Skip down and see the req for Rosetta 2 is only for newer Silicon Macs
