In the past four weeks, I’ve noticed an unfortunate behaviour of sideloading other messaging apps like Fossify and Quik. Several messages have not been received at my end even though they have been confirmed sent from others.
Initially, I wanted to get access to group messaging by side loading these, but look like I have to get back to stock app again…
Here are a few observations made:
The stock SMS app has stopped working and won’t open anymore.
Every time we send a test message, it arrives. Are the missing messages caused by any idle battery saving setting in the developer menu? I tried having a look, but couldn’t find anything.
I use the kill switch every night. Does it disturb the antenna somehow?
At my work, there are spots with low to no signal, and my carrier does not seem to send me any “missing calls or messages” logs once the phone reconnects. Is it a carrier issue? I have added their correct MMS and Internet APN settings, because both SMS/MMS and internet work on the phone.
It’s really frustrating to know that people might not have gotten any answers from me for almost a month…
Any solution, except for factory reset, would be preferred.
I’m not familiar with group messaging, but for the (3) the answer is yes, Offline+ makes your phone seem turned off from the carrier perspective. Then, depending on the mobile service provider, any messages that are enqueued for you over night should be attempted to deliver after a while (interval depends on the service provider). So this can affect your message reception in the same way as turning your phone off, as far as I understand.
However, it doesn’t have anything to do with group messaging issue, could be two issues happening together at times.
I totally agree ghosting someone is not cool but the reasons might be many. On my end, whenever I need something from someone, I repeat myself after a while or I call. I know it’s not a solution to the software/service provider behavior but an eventual workaround.
I have had this same issue since the last update. I have neither heard nor seen any responses or updates from Mudita after voicing it several times in this forum. I got so frustrated that I had to go back to using my Sunbeam F1 Pro for now for reliability. Answers from the team would be greatly appreciated. If this is not fixed I will unfortunately have to sell my Kompakt.
Guys I think Mudita already responded to this in some other thread. You have to manually set the default SMS messaging app back to the stock SMS app via ADB.
On a sidenote: If you sideload then you should know the risk in what you’re doing and how to fix it.
I ended up sideloading a different messaging app AFTER I started experiencing these issues with the Mudita SMS app (this issues started occurring after the July update). The only thing sideloading helped was I was able to get group messaging, but the same issues persisted regardless of which messaging app I used.
Yes and this has also been discussed on this board plentiful. Did you already tried the search function?
In any case: You have to delete overly long SMS conversations in order to get the SMS app to work again properly. It is a known bug.
There’s a lot of inconsistencies and different experiences. Some people were missing some sms with the default sms app, and some are missing them with third-party apps.
Just like the offlines witch-camera bug, it manifests differently for different users.
But definitely not a android quirk, I’ve used third-party sms apps on Android and never had an issue of not receiving sms.
