Top 3 features you'd like to see on the Kompact soon?

A “do not disturb” feature that silences texts and calls, but allows your “favorite” contacts to bypass that.

A lethal plasma beam and the obligatory teleport function. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and setting a password for setting a password for setting a password for setting a password for do not disturb so I can set a password for setting a password. That’s all for now :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve passed this idea on to the team some time ago. I’m still waiting to hear back.

I am a soon-to-be user (ordered my Kompakt and waiting for it to arrive), and just wanted to note that Signal is really important for me. It’s my main method of communication (texts, calls, and voice notes), and from what I’ve seen in this thread, it looks like Signal support is quite lacking (e.g. no notifications after sideloading).

Since Signal is developed by a security-focused non-profit organization, and it is inline with the Mudita ethos, I would love to see it become a first-class citizen within the Kompakt; I’d love to be able to install it in a simpler, more straightforward manner without sideloading, and to have all it’s features/notifications be fully supported by the phone.

How would you want to play this game? I’m trying to thing about a controller feature.

I have both Signal & WhatsApp & I do get audible notifications.

Could sacrifice bottom of the display for the four action buttons (left, down, right, rotate).

Hi Thisissami,

Fully agree with you. While this is still not fully “publicly official”, the good news is that on our roadmap we do have plans to add more support for third-party apps, including notifications.

The not-so-good news is  that this won’t come very soon, as we currently have higher-priority tasks on our list.

In the first half of this year there will be updates focused on other improvements, and in the second half of the year we will start talking more seriously about third-party APK support. So unfortunately some patience is needed :-/

But I hope that at least knowing it is definitely on our roadmap will make the waiting a bit easier.

oh interesting; that’s different from what I’ve seen earlier in the thread.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! And I am happy to be patient knowing that you guys are doing good work and care about creating a good product. Good software (especially on the OS level) takes time to develop, and clearly you guys care about quality.

  1. No padlock or arrow on the lock screen
  2. Blank black or white lock screen
  3. Some fix that makes it not so easy to accidentally answer calls with your butt.

You’ll be able to customize your lock screen in a future update. It’s actually planned for Q3 of this year based on our Roadmap.

It’s probably going to be hard to choose just 3 for myself. I’ve owned the Kompakt since November.

  1. the ability to set an event on the calendar as repeating as well as the ability to set a custom length for when I’ll be reminded of the event. In the current calendar app, if I wanted to have an event set daily to remind me to take my meds, or pick up kids from school etc. I would have to enter it separately for each day since theres not option to set it as repeating and select what days/times I want it to repeat for. Also, it only allows me to select the reminder for 5 minutes - but sometimes I want a 1 hour, 30 minute, or even 1 day prior reminder because I’m forgetful. Id like to avoid having to use a 3rd party app but I think its going in that direction due to the lack of these 2 features.

  2. A better more responsive keyboard with a voice to text option as well as the ability to send voice notes/audio. Currently, I’m having to constantly go back and correct my text messages because the keyboard lacks responsivness and if I’m not typing very slow and intentionally, then it will skip letters etc. I’ve also found the lack of voice to text, and the lack of ability to send voice notes frustrating at times.

  3. The ability to customize notifications on the lock screen/see notifications from 3rd party apps on the lock screen. I have to check my signal every time my phone vibrates because at present I can’t set up signal to send notifications to my lock screen without some kind of modification.

  4. A true silent/do not disturb mode that can be bypassed by certain contacts. My kompakt still vibrates in “silent” - especially for 3rd party apps. I’ve had to go in and set up custom notification profiles on signal for nightime because otherwise, it will wake me up when someone messages me despite the phone being on silent. I’d love a do not disturb mode where you can customize it. For instance, being able to allow certain contacts through if they call more than once etc.

  5. A basic web browser. I can click links in signal and it opens “testview web browser” but I don’t see an app on the phone for this - it only opens when I select the link in signal. Additionally, links sent via text aren’t clickable at all. Its rather confusing. I wouldn’t mind a basic web browser and it appears the kompakt has the ability to do so, it just doesn’t seem to be fully integrated (or I’m missing something).

@totorosumbrella Welcome to the Mudita FORUM! We’re super glad that you’re here!

First & foremost, thank you for taking the time to write this out. We always love when users give us such extensive feedback. This is exactly the kind of detailed, real-world feedback that helps us improve Kompakt in meaningful ways. :grinning:
You’ve clearly spent time living with the device, and it shows.

A few quick thoughts in response to your points:

  • Calendar improvements (repeating events, flexible reminders) are one of the most commonly requested areas, especially for everyday routines like meds, school pickups, and work schedules. You’re definitely not alone here, and I’ve passed this on to the team & I will follow up with them where we are with this.

  • Keyboard responsiveness and voice features are also high on many users’ wish lists. E Ink brings unique challenges, but better text input is something our team is actively exploring as part of improving daily communication. I will ask about the voice-to-text & audio messages.

  • Notifications and DND behavior, especially for third-party apps like Signal, is another area where expectations are very reasonable. A true silent or customizable Do Not Disturb mode, with contact-based exceptions, is something we see mentioned a lot and I fully understand the need for, particularly at night. Custom ringtones & notifications Are on the roadmap.

  • Web links and browser behavior can definitely feel confusing right now. What you’re seeing is the system WebView being triggered by certain apps, rather than a full browser experience. You can read more about that here:

Nothing here is being ignored, and posts like yours genuinely help shape what gets prioritized. We can’t promise timelines, but please know this kind of feedback is read carefully and shared internally with the team.

Thanks again for being so thoughtful and constructive. If you had to narrow it down to just one or two “must-have” changes, which would matter most to you day-to-day?

Hi guys - now that I’ve been using my Kompakt for a few days, I have a few requests. I wouldn’t say they are my “top 3 features” since I obviously need more time to have a sense of that, but they are current requests:

  1. In the chess app, it’s very frustrating to have the game over modal appear instantly without any option to close it. It covers 80% of the chess board, and if I’ve just lost, I can’t see what I missed. It’s really hard to improve when you can’t see where you went wrong. Every time I lose, I feel really annoyed that I can’t close the automatic popup and just see the board.
  2. Voice notes!! I use voice notes to communicate all the time, and just received a “File type not supported” message. This is such an important method of communication for me, and I’m honestly not sure that I would have bought a Kompakt if I’d known that I can’t use voice notes with it.
  3. I’ve already addressed this personally by installing HeliBoard, but… wow the default keyboard is seriously awful. As in the worst typing experience I’ve had since whatever pre-T9 typing on original dumbphones was called. I’m glad to read that the team is actively exploring better text input.

@Michal_Kicinski and @urszula I also shared some constructive criticism with your support team (sent 1 hour ago) that is intended for decision makers at Mudita. I don’t think it’s appropriate for this forum thread, so I’m just tagging you guys to bring it to your attention. Thanks for your work on an original phone!

I love my Mudita Kompat. My top three things I hope come in future updates are

  1. Voice to text, audio messages, and auto correct when typing
  2. ability to delete sideloaded apps completely off device easily
  3. Timer and alarm clock with adjustable seconds and minutes.

Thank you so much for sending over the feedback. We really appreciate it & I want to assure you that our team gets all the feedback. That’s our driving force on making the Mudita Kompakt better & better for our community.

Hello! I’m a Mudita Kompakt owner since november and I’m so glad I found this phone
If I have to choose my top 3 “future features” I’d say:

  • In the Music app, I’d love to be able to listen repeatedly the same song without manually restart the track. It’s quite relaxing before falling asleep
  • I really wish to export my Notes! I’m a writer and sometimes I make some quick notes on the Kompakt (I’ve also tried to use an external bluetooth keyboard, but it doesn’t recognize the italian layout), and it’d be lovely to just see them in the Mudita Center and just being able to copy/paste somewhere else
  • a warm backlight would be more than welcome, as my eyes are very sensitive, but I don’t know if this is something that can be changed on a software level
  • +1 I’d also love to delete sideloaded apps without having to factory reset the Kompakt

Thank you in advance, these are just suggestions since I’m really enjoying my life without a smartphone! The Kompakt forced me to simplify my life (no browser, no social media, no apps for food and car sharing…) and I’m really grateful for this change
