Third party Countdown Timer/ Stopwatch App for the Kompakt?

Amazingly the Mudita Kompakt still has no timer or stopwatch.

This to me is incredible.

Every phone I have ever owned from dumb to smart from cheapest to most expensive have this feature.

The Meditation app is a poor substitute for a timer . its very limited allowing only increments of 15 minutes to be timed. It also pauses if one navigates away from it.

The alarm has similar issues and setting alarms is a clunky way to time stuff.

I will never understand why a timer wasn’t just built into the clock system app on the phone. A first year undergrad programmer could do that.

So … Anyone had any luck with a third party timer App that they can recommend ?

You haven’t sideloaded it, the default android clock app (with a stopwatch and timer) is in the Phone, just hidden. Since you’re using Katapult you have access to see it.

Dear @gezimos / others - this is a bit off topic, I have not sideloaded Katapult, but I am curious what other useful utilities are hidden in the Mudita OS? Specifically is there app functionality for the phone / contacts?

Thank you, I appreciate you taking time to reply. I think the screws were tightened down too tight and out of the box users maybe are screwed without sideloading.

The contacts app works fine, and is functional as well - I understand why Mudita didn’t include it since the phone app contains contacts functionality

The first problem here is calling installing an app “Sideloading”. It makes it sound like you’re hacking, or doing something illegal.

When you want a better Word processor than Notepad and install Office on your pc/mac nobody calls it “sideloading”. It’s simply called installing.

I used the word ‘sideloading’ back in 2013/2014 when I got my BlackBerry Q10. BB10 OS allowed Android APKs to to be sideloaded. I did it all the time since the BB10 OS was very limited and didn’t have all the popular apps that were coming out at that time. I never thought of it as something ‘illegal’ :slight_smile:

Yeah but through developer options you can also access these apps and use them without any launcher or sideloading….

Just go in developer options search for „Clock“ and you can use a timer and stopwatch..

Well BB is one of the cases where using the term Sideloading is acceptable. BBOS didn’t support android apps natively, they ran through Android Runtime (a compatibility layer, basically they were emulated).

But here on the forum users talk about not wanting to sideload and only use “native apps”, even though all of the community apps that i’ve seen are native android apps.

I know but I don’t want to dig through developer options to start a timer, which is why I have a shortcut on home that takes me to the AOSP timer in one tap.

I downloaded this but it has no sound notification or alarm once the countdown timer reaches zero.

What use is a countdown timer that you have to sit and watch? I could just sit and watch the clock at that rate.

The whole point is that you can set it to take care of the time while you go and do stuff and get a notification through sound that time is up,

Seriously Mudita ? What do you have against a proper timer App ?Was the CEO traumatised by parents that timed everything they did? Is counting time so deeply against the company ethos or something? is that too organised and disconnected from nature and family? Help me here.

I created this timer for my own specific use case, so yeah, I just watch it. LOL
