It’s clear that you have not only spent time using Mudita Kompakt as your primary phone, but also made a genuine effort to understand what the device is designed to offer. We REALLY appreciate the balanced way you described both the benefits & the compromises.
Your experience using offline Maps in remote areas of Northern Canada was especially fascinating to read. It’s wonderful to hear that Kompakt has been useful in places where Google Maps and Apple Maps have not worked well for you. I had the same experience in remote places in Australia. At the same time, your feedback about road numbers, highway exits, and navigation in larger cities is valuable, and we agree that Maps still has room to develop. Our team is working on making the native Mudita Kompakt apps better, so stay tuned for the next update.
Regarding long-term support, yes, Kompakt will continue to receive support through 2030, and most likely for longer. Under the applicable EU requirements, operating system upgrades must remain available for at least five years from the point when the last unit of a product model is placed on the market. Since Kompakt is still being actively sold, that five-year period has not even started yet.
Thank you also for pointing out the issue with wind speed continuing to appear in mph after km/h has been selected. I will pass this along to our team so they can look into it.
Regarding Signal remaining visible after you uninstalled it, there is a possibility that what you were seeing was the APK installation file rather than the installed application itself. Uninstalling an app doesn’t necessarily delete the original APK file from the device, so the file may need to be removed separately. Please check whether that could have been the case. If it was still the installed app or its icon that remained, then your report is certainly worth investigating further.
You’re also right that a timer and stopwatch are useful, basic tools. A few options have already been created by members of the Mudita community (myself included) and can be installed on Kompakt.

Of course, we understand that this is not quite the same as having these functions included among the stock applications, particularly for someone who deliberately prefers not to sideload apps.
We also appreciate your honesty about the battery, camera, sideloading experience, and the adjustments required when moving away from a conventional smartphone. Kompakt cannot magically change someone’s habits by itself. There is an adjustment period, and making the transition successfully often requires some changes on the user’s side as well. Your review communicates that reality very well.
It means a great deal to hear that Kompakt is helping you spend less time scrolling and more time present with your family.
