The wait is over- Today at 12PM EST, Mudita Kompakt goes live on Kickstarter!

Strange. I just read an answer from Mudita in Polish in the Kickstarter discussion, which said, and I quote in direct translation:

At the moment, two-way synchronization of the calendar and notes with Google services will not be available at launch, but we are considering adding such an option in the future. We will also collect feedback from our community and plan new features on this basis!

@roberto I’m getting some clarification on this issue from the team.

Here’s the info from our team about the Calendar & syncing:

Unfortunately we cannot promise automatic synchronization of Contacts and Calendar. We are working on it and we will do our best to provide these features in a free software update after the market launch of Kompakt as soon as possible.

On the day of launch you will be able to import Contacts to Kompakt via the Mudita Center desktop application from Mudita Pure, your Google Account or MS Outlook, as well as from any file exported e.g. from iOS or other source. You will also be able to manage your Contacts as Calendar on Kompakt using Mudita Center.

@urszula Oh, that’s awkward, I backed the phone based on the snippet from marketing email I posted! Haha. (Calendar syncing) Any word on Apple calendar?

With iOS, I will ask the team what the plan is, because you know Apple likes everything in their ecosystem. But, as I stated above, you will be able to upload your contacts from files exported from iOS or other sources.

This is great solution, thanks!

iOS users aren`t compatibile with rest of the world, by default and thus have no right to complain :smiley:
Main reason why I dropped even nicely done Mac Studio as computer choice :smiley:

@RasVoja I literally laughed out loud when I read this :slight_smile:

iPhone users are the majority smartphone-wise here in the USA, so they see the rest of us here as incompatible. :wink:

As a +10 Apple user, I assure you that most of us are voluntary hostages of an ecosystem that was aimed at its reliability at that time (Steve Jobs’ time), not for the current woke mentality and emoji innovation.

I am apple lover, but that applies to MacOS X PPC on iMac G5, m68k MacOS Classic 1-8 and Apple II.
After II, its all money milking instead of innovation :smiley:

Here in East Europe its prestigous for fancy girls, rich people and rich kids say people who use Android
are poor and destitiuted. Little they know its just MacOS X rescaled and done badly, plus that Android phones are better hardware wise.
@urszula
Apple CEO says so, and it should be so. 999$ monitor stand :smiley:

Even the Apple fans are waking up to the current lack of innovation. Tim Cook (or Tim Apple :smiley: ) should be removed or retired as soon as possible.

I’m still with Apple because I don’t really have time to switch. macOS still gives me some liberties that I don’t have with iOS. That’s why I was thinking to replace my iPhone 11 with a Kompakt.

Now, I’ll continue using it since I still have more or less three years of updates left and I don’t intend to buy another iPhone. I already deleted all the unnecessary apps, and only have the ones I need daily for my work, including the camera, and I synchronize via cable. My iPad will be my offline device on the go and for working purposes.

@kirkmahoneyphd I find this so odd. And they (the iPhone users) are so tribal about it.
I remember reading an article that iPhone owners don’t want to date someone with an Android phone and vice versa.

@urszula Ah, I’m not interested in it for syncing files or contacts – I meant for syncing calendar events. Light Phone do it, so it is possible :slight_smile:

We’re still looking into calendar syncing specifically, and while it’s something we’d like to explore further, our team needs to prioritize a few other core elements for now. We had to revalue it and concluded it was better to not include it in the KS.

Fingers crossed and apologies for the confusion @grilledcheesebb

@Sharaz I see!

Is there a roadmap of upcoming features in the Kompakt available somewhere?
Just wondering if there’s anything else that was in the marketing emails that won’t be making it to the product anymore.

My intention wasn’t to worry you nor fire up speculations :see_no_evil: but no - this was indeed a last-minute change!

Everything on the KS page reflects what we’re aiming to develop for the launch. Meanwhile, we’re also gathering feedback from the campaign and will work on a roadmap that we can share with everyone… I’ll keep you updated! @grilledcheesebb

Me glad people wake up. I was turned away from Macintosh ARM revolution not because CPU is bad (its great) but because no PCI-E except MacPro, soldered RAM and SSD. That is simply unacceptable from user POV, treating desktop as phone that should be junked in year or two. And no MacOS X update can do that. Also by extreme limiting macOS X to certain models (that community loaders provded wrong) which is MS style of “make it obsolete by software”"
Great example is old Dart Vader MacPro. Its great for its time, 1TB models and 64GB RAM models are cheap and its PC you can run Linux and WIn too. But Apple dropped support and you need sideloaders to get Sonoma on it which Apple can ban any day.
I am no fan of PPC to Intel transition time, since Apple effectively left PPC alliance and made it dead and dudo (while its good CPU concept) but Tim is absolete money grabber MS can evy.
