UPDATE: special characters will be ready at LAUNCH.
@roberto while Mudita Kompakt will properly show special characters from Swedish or Danish, you wouldn’t be able to type them yourselves. This is how we intend it to work on shipping day. Support for typing special characters may be added later via software updates.
Yeah I learned my lesson with the Pure, I am waiting for the North American version but I will be honest when it arrives and when I go to test it I am going to be nervous because i have such BAD memories with the Pure
The Pure was a device wich was engineered from the ground up. Mudita built and designed the electronics and the software. It was sheer madness. Hats off to them.
The Kompakt uses mostly off-the shelf components and AOSP.
Great stuff. Love the design.
I’m on the fence about buying one, because right now I have a hybrid set-up with a true dumbphone (which never nags me for updates) and a smartphone which forwards calls to said dumbphone. I’m not sure I can fit yet another device in my life.
(Un)fortunately I don’t need to decide right now. I lost my job last week, so I’ll postpone ordering the Kompakt at least until I have a new job.
I’m going to back it now, with the colour options would it be possible to have the front match the back? ie: currently the front is always black and the back of the phone have the option for white/black/pebble. I’m going to back the black version so that the front bazel and the back have the same colour, however if it was possible to get the front screen bezel in pebble colour to match the back I’d change my option to pebble.
UPDATE: special characters will be ready at LAUNCH.
@anon11367638 & @roberto : I just confirmed with our team that support for special characters will be added to the keyboard. They will be available regardless of the language setting.
This probably won’t be ready for shipping day, but will (instead of “maybe will”) be implemented via an update. T
I was a bit surprised that a touchscreen phone with an Android-based system would have limitations regarding language and especially keyboard.
With Michal’s comment today, I’m now confused about whether we will be able to install apps in the future that we may need, like parking apps.
The SAR amount was also a surprise. Theoretically, my iPhone 11 has a lower SAR than Kompakt, which aims to be more health-friendly in several ways.
The calendar app does not appear anywhere, and we don’t know yet how it will work regarding synchronization.
The fact that some features are already being said to be available in future updates brings back memories of the temperature feature on Harmony and other features announced for Pure that let customers buy the devices and then never got the features.
In short, I don’t feel secure ordering Kompakt now. With so much suspense during these months, I was expecting the information to be clearer and more solid than all these last-minute questions and some misunderstandings in communication.
Yeah honestly to me the whole thing is very confusing and I don’t like the direction of this. One person is saying hey you tube will not work, another person says it can. They should have stuck to their philosophy and just made it impossible to sideload apps the way Light company has stuck to their philosophy
@anon52747040 Currently, as things stand- Mudita Kompakt does not support playing videos received via MMS. I’m going to ask for clarification from our team, however, from my understanding- the phone itself, currently cannot play video.
The other comments about theoretical side-loading, only take into account the fact that you can do it on standard AOSP 12 operating system. They are not taking into account that Mudita Kompakt does not support playing videos at the moment.
