Outlook/ CalDAV, CardDAV support for Calendar and Contacts on Kompakt

I’ve got a self-hosted caldav/carddav server using Radicale - very easy to set up. The Kompakt comes with 2 calendar apps - the standard AOSP one, and Mudita’s e-ink-optimized calendar app. I’d love if the latter could access my synchronized calendars, as they show up in the AOSP calendar, and Fossify Calendar, but not the Mudtia calendar app.

CalDAV support does need to be added. Whether it’s done through Mudita Center or otherwise.

I have sideloaded the Ektar calendar app. It comes out of the box with CalDav support, and I think (haven’t tried) it makes DavX5 superfluous.

No, Etar still requires DavX5 to sync the data. Honestly it doesn’t matter much because only the stock Mudita Calendar has notifications on the phone, so you wouldn’t be able to see alerts anyway.

There’s rumors that a new Boox Palma is about to be released with cell service and color e-ink, so at this point I’ll probably sell my Kompakt and get that. Not having a syncable calendar has been a very disappointing deal breaker.

I really want to be able to sync calendars and contacts to radicale on this phone. Sadly the default android packages is not even installed, so you can’t even sync contacts using DavX5 as far as I can tell.

Damned. If not solved, possible that I didn’t keep my MK.

You can sync both your contacts and your calendar with DavX5 to Radicale
However, as other pointed out already the stock calendar app doesn’t use the standard Android calendar database, so you won’t be able to see your calendar events there. For this, you need to use an alternative calendar app.
Contacts can be synced as usual, except for custom data fields. If you don’t mind your contact data looking a bit scrambled, this should work fine. All the basic data is there.I moved away from syncing contacts since it’s more a one time thing for me and I don’t want to waste battery on syncing.

If I understand right, Radicale is a server.
I have my own (NAS) and use it for all the devices of the family. So don’t want to change.

if you have a NAS it’s probably running Linux, and you can definitely some sort of CardDAV/CalDAV server (Radicale, Baikal, etc) on it. Through Docker, or just natively. This is a good option. Some NAS devices like synology have their own built in DAV servers that you can use too.

Contact syncing for me with DAVx5 has worked great since I got the Kompakt. My wife and I have share an account so we can have all the same contacts/calendar, and it works great. Just the lack of notifications for calendar events is a bummer. InkOS and a third party calendar app almost solves this, but it’s not quite there.

The built in calendar supporting Android’s calendar database would be ideal, but overall I’m still happy with the Kompakt and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

Yes I have Sinology. Sync all the iPads and the phones. On one I had to install DavX and it worked.
Glad to hear it work on the Kompakt.
An idea what would be a good calendar app?

DavX5 works just fine for me. But you cannot use the Mudita calendar app. Anyway, if you’re looking into this kind of functionality, the Mudita calendar app wouldn’t have sufficed anyway. It’s too limited. The Mudita calendar app is more like a dumbphone calendar replacement.

I’m a Fastmail user. Since yesterday, the Fastmail app supports working offline. FINALLY. Now I can just stop using DavX5 etc.

Just wanted to download DavX but they are so many versions…
Witch one did you use?
Thanks

Installed a version for Android 7 (Nougat).
Unfortunately, when setting the account, with the address of my contacts server, DavX just talked me about Calendar and only offers settings about Calendar.
No contacts.
No idea what I have done wrong. It’s not the first I did it.

A Boox Palma with 4G would be a serious competitor to the MK, even though it’s bigger and not as privacy-conscious. There have been rumours for years but now The Verge saw a prototype.

I just used the version on Fdroid. I wasn’t even aware of any other versions to be honest.

Just remember you need a fully fletched browser for authorization if you want to sync with Google…

What do the browser here?
I want to sync a calendar and a contacts app. My data are on my NAS server.

Only people who want to sync with Google need a browser to perform the authorization once. For your data on the NAS you won’t need it.

Ok, thanks a lot. I’ll install another version of DavX5 and try again.

So I re-tryed installing DavX and it works with the AOSP built in calendar (just have access if you’re using inkOs).
Now I need something for the contacts.
Which app should I use?

Contacts do appear in the stock Mudita phone app. You don’t need an extra app.
