Hi, I was wondering if there will be support for Outlook for the native calendar and contacts app? It would be cool to sync automaticly instead of having to connect to the computer each time I change an event on a different device. Also CalDAV, CardDAV (maybe via DAVx5) would be awesome. Any plans? (Definetly dont need mail on the Kompakt)
@fe5hua Welcome to the Mudita Forum! We’re glad you’re here.
We covered this topic in another thread that might find helpful:
As far as I know, there was no plans for CalDav/CardDav, but I will ask our team if anything has changed.
@fe5hua Our team has confirmed that currently, we have no plans to support CalDav/CardDav.
Is there any chance the team would reconsider this? Having a Calendar that can only be managed on one physical device would be a major deal breaker for me.
I plan to investigate this soon after I get my Mudita Kompakt. I do not want to repeat the situation that I have with my Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid – synchronization of neither contacts nor calendar.
I actually also used a Sunbeam and not being able to quickly check and edit what’s next on my schedule really hurt my productivity.
It should be possible to side-load Davx?
at least that’s what I’ve had in android devices to syncronize to my nextcloud instance, and having that installed should allow you to get this stuff working.
I agree with this. What about a poll to see if we can convince the team?
@lunaralias17 I will ask the team if they plan on looking at this again. I will get back to the FORUM once I have more info.
I would also consider CalDav an important feature to have. Options are good?
Our team has said that nothing has changed on their roadmap regarding this. It’s difficult to implement without privacy concerns.
However, here’s something to keep in mind about using just one physical device: You can technically import your calendar (CalDAV) into the Kompakt using Mudita Center, but it’s not a smooth or automatic syncing process. Also, you won’t see extra details for events, like who else is attending.
i think it should be, kompakt is android phone and it supports android apps
Are there any suggestions for a privacy-friendly calendar app that can synchronize with Apple Calendar?
@roberto I thought you’re moving away from the apple ecosystem?
I understand the privacy concerns. Thankfully we still have the option to sideload another calendar app. I plan on testing that once I get my Kompakt.
I agree. I configured DAVx5 on my CalyxOS-deGoogled Google Pixel 6 to synchronize with my contacts and calendar – stored and accessed quite privately – at my Nextcloud instance.
For reference, my Calendar app on my deGoogled Pixel 6 comes from org.calyxos.etar, and my Contacts app comes from com.android.contacts.
To be determined is whether DAVx5 sideloaded onto a Mudita Kompakt can “talk with” the Calendar app and Contacts app in MuditaOS K.
Let’s wait until I receive the Kompakt…
To me, the synchronization is important, mainly for contacts, because when you know somebody and shares his contact with you, usually the only thing in your hand is the phone, and is really nice, that you can create the contact there, and next day all other devices has this contact. (Simple example)
I’ve got right now a SailfishOS, which has integrated CalDav and CardDav, and is really nice.
Agreed! If you get your Kompakt before I get mine and can post here first about your DAVx5 experience, then great!
I doubt it, (I bought it on january, if I remember correctly, but the global one), but yeah, of course!
I intend to do that with time (my main concern was the iPhone. I can handle the Mac with third-parties alternatives), but the rest of the family doesn’t, and I bought two kompakts. But in any case, I’ll need to synchronize a calendar.
