You’re right.
I deleted the app that I installed.
But contacts where nicer in there with pics and all.
Would it be an option that the Mudita Center sync the calendar and contacts from computer to Kompakt?
That would be a nice feature.
Sparing the battery . No need to sync several times a day. Just when you know it’s necessary.
This will be the neatest solution, without sideloading things that drain the battery and make a mess.
Like iSync on the first OS X from Mac. Works great.
Since I’ve installed DavX for my contacts I have a real mess. Sometimes they appear double, numbers too.
How can I delete what is not from DavX?
Heeeelp!
So,
Found a solution the hard way.
In the Center I looked at the list, most contacts where double, some triple.
The ones coming from DavX where more complete, with address and all. It was the last for each name. I removed manually about 200 contacts. Seems ok now.
Of course, Mudita can’t accommodate everyone’s wishes, but I’m disappointed to see that syncing has been completely removed from the device’s roadmap. ![]()
I mean, was it ever considered that the stock calendar app should use the Android database, so that users at least have the option of syncing themselves?
Don’t get me wrong; I don’t want to turn my Kompakt into a smartphone. I understand the concept of the device. However, I still think it makes little sense for the calendar app to operate strictly on the device. I’d like to know why this decision has been made!
Wow so there is no plan to sync the calendar to other calendars? That is kind of annoying, not a deal breaker but they need to fix the calendar, the ability to sync and even just minor things like only allowing a 5 min remider for an event, not being able to repeat events, little things like that annoy me, these are basic things that other dumb phones like sunbeam and light phone have
With DavX you can sync Calendar and contacts but you need to have another laucher like inkOs to access the built in AOSP calendar.
And again, just noting here that even with a custom launcher notifications still don’t work well. You have to remember to pick up your phone and check your launcher for any notifications, and even then your non-Mudita calendar app has to stay running in the background at all times in order to generate a notification. I’ve never gotten a background app to remain running for more than a few hours.
Ah, too bad. What’s the reason for that?
I wish i could use something simple like DecSync CC (+ syncthing for ex) and still use the beautiful default calendar from mudita. What’s the reason for not using the standard android calendar db?
Unless i can sync, that calendar is pretty much useless to me unfortunately.
Well, yes! ![]()
I’m not sure, but I think it’s part of their design philosophy to rebuild base functionality from scratch. Honestly, I’m puzzled about this, as well as the fact that syncing wasn’t on the roadmap from day one. However, to my knowledge Mudita only plans to support certain online calendars, such as those from Google and Apple, instead of regular CalDAV, which btw is a very weird decision on a Google-free device.
Totally silly.
I’m trying daily to get rid of Google and Apple, that’s why I bought the MK and they want to throw us in their hands.
idk if it’s silly, but i’m having a hard time understanding the Mudita team decision here.
i’d like to use the official calendar app because it displays properly on the eink screen.
But if i do, since i can’t synchronize it, it means i have to spend more time on my phone, instead for example just accepting an event in my email when i’m on my laptop?
There is maybe a technical reason for all that.
Like said in this thread by other people, it would be nice even if the sync was left to users to manage (personally i use DecSync).
Just figure out that with the built in AOSP calendar I can see the events but can’t create one.
Very annoying? Witch Calendar do you use?
