I’ve been using my Kompakt for about three weeks now and have loved it. There’s plenty of issues with the apps but I found they were all things I could live with since the hardware is so solid and I don’t mind side loading alternatives to make up for the software issues.
I’m so so disappointed now that I’ve had to put my sim back into my old Google Pixel since I found out yesterday that maybe 50% or so of texts being sent to me just never arrive, and haven’t for at least a week. My number was already disconnected from RCS in Google messages, and the APN settings were already set up correctly. After a bit of troubleshooting with two friends, it seems to be that if my mobile network is at three bars or more, texts come in just fine. At two bars or less, the texts don’t get picked up and will never arrive, even when my network picks up strength again. Messages I send out do not seem to have this problem. Note that this is all in one on one text threads , not group messaging.
Obviously, this is a massive issue and makes the phone completely unusable for me. I’m so disappointed. I’m past the return window so all I can do is hope for an update, though it’s unfortunate that the roadmap so far seems to cover mostly aesthetic or simple changes, and not critical bugs such as this, despite the fact that I’m not the first to have reported it. If anybody has any more tips I can try to improve functionality myself, I’m all ears. I want this to work.
Hmmm. This is quite odd. Is your sim card a 5G. I’m asking because Mudita Kompakt does not support 5G. I’m wondering if with the lower bars (your phone is switching to 5G)

Thanks Urszula, I appreciate the help. Please let me know what they say! My sim card probably is compatible with 5G, but my cellular plan is only for 4G.
@urszula How do you get to these MMS settings. I poked around and didn’t find them. Not sure if it matters, but I have a t-mobile SIM in the NA version of the Kompakt.
@urszula I would like to point out again, that today I have not received some of the SMS sent to me. I noticed because the conversation was off, details sent in 2-3 previous texts never arrived.
This is beginning to annoy me very much, because I want to be able to rely on the SMS app for communication!
I have written about this problem in previous comments, as have a lot of other people.
Is this going to be taken care of in the July update?
@astratev I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this. I just want to make sure you’ve got your setting enabled & that your APN settings are set correctly for your network provider.
The APN settings have a lot to do with messages.
Yes, @urszula I have everything enabled and the correct settings.
I receive most of my SMS, but from time to time there is the odd one that I don’t receive.
For over a month of usage I have not received SMS three times (usually I miss 1-3 texts from an ongoing conversation).
@astratev I have to admit, that’s super odd. I’ve been using Mudita Kompakt since March & I have not has any issues with SMS messages. I am going to ask our team if they have heard of anything like this.
Thanks for adding your voice, @astratev! I’ll also reiterate again that yes, my settings were all set up correctly, and that I hope we’ll hear from the team that this is being handled in a coming update.
Our team thought that initially it might have been a network issue (not Kompakt related) but it now looks like it could be, so I am pushing the issue to the top. Also- the network related issue is mainly happening within North America (people who got Global versions in the US + some NAM devices). Since you’re in the EU- it could be something else. I will ping the team.
Thank you! I know your team has a lot on its plate, but in my opinion this is a critical issue and should be looked into with priority. Since SMS is the only official way to text someone (and I refuse to sideload apps), I really rely on the native app to do its job. I didn’t miss anything important for now, but it makes me uneasy.
I can give you more details - seems like I am missing longer texts (and one MMS) in an ongoing conversation with a single person (I don’t use group chats). Every time it happened, I was at work, but I have never had any problems with connection there with previous phones. I get all my calls, everything is fine excluding the occasional missed SMS.
And, yes, I am in EU and have the Global version.
I really love the phone, and I would love to make the transition to using only the Kompakt, but at this point I don’t feel like it’s absolutely reliable.
Not sure if that matters, but are those SMS you don’t receive longer than 160 characters? Or 70 characters with emoji/local language characters? In such case SMS turns into an MMS.
