I recently got the Mudita Kompakt for US and I love everything about it except it doesn’t seem to be reliable when it comes to messaging. I have just switched to T-mobile and it is not receiving group messages and I have missed some important sms over the last couple of days. I was under the impression that the new update fixed or allowed group messages?

This is already on their roadmap, but will be supported at a later point. Please use the search function next time since this has been already discussed here a couple times.

Did your previous phone was an iPhone with RCS or an Android with RCS? You need to disable that option in your previous device because Kompakt doesn’t support rcs, so the network is trying to send the messages to your active rcs account.
You can search the forum/google/chatgpt on how to do it on iPhones or Android depending on your device.
Group messages in other hand might be a different issue which some people have resolved with a different sms app like Quik

Thank you. I did not use RCS and I have disconnected from Imessage. I did change networks and that might have solved the issue. I will check out Quik

Was this resolved? I have been having a similar issue. I am using T-mobile US and noticing some SMS and MMS messages are dropped at random. The phone stops receiving messages for a couple hours or even days. Then it’s fine again, but I never get the dropped messages. I think I have to switch to a different phone because it’s causing me to miss plans with friends. I’ve messed with APN settings, different SMS apps, restarting, disabling battery manager, logcat, everything. I can’t discern a pattern. Does anyone else have this problem?

Just here to say, me too.
I originally noticed the missed text messages were happening when my phone was in Offline+ mode over night, but recently I’ve confirmed that it even happens (seemingly) randomly throughout the day too now. Like you, I can’t discern what the pattern is.
While the Mudita team (@urszula) has been helpful and responsive, they also pin the issue to the carrier. Meanwhile, the carrier states that the missed texts are arriving and being dispatched normally. I’ve been with US Cellular for years (no problem with texts on my Pixel 4a), but I was willing to switch carriers… to T-Mobile. I’m waiting on the physical sim to come in the mail, but after hearing your experience, I doubt it will change things. I too have tried all kinds of fixes, anything recommended to me.
And you’re right, this is a significant problem, especially due to the unknown nature of it (not just why it’s happening, but not knowing who’s/how many texts I’m actually missing). In my work, clients will reach out via text and I’ve had a feeling I’m missing out on work opportunities lately – uncomfortable to say the least.
And… I love this phone otherwise. Not sure what to do. Help!

Are you using the OFFLINE+ mode very often?
no, I don’t use it very often. The issue occurs independent of my use of the OFFLINE+ mode

Thanks for this tip, my old android had rcs, I noticed when I had my sim in mudita kompakt I was getting some texts, but other texts were just going to my android google messages.

@claytonconifer Currently, Mudita Kompakt does not fully support group messages. That feature is coming in a future update, later this fall. Additionally RCS is not supported at the moment, so maybe that could be the issue.
Does the upcoming 1.3 update address these issues with SMS reliability?

@clippy 1.3.0 does fix fix unexpected application crashes, but I’m not sure what you mean exactly by SMS reliability. There are several issues connected to why people were missing text messages, like incorrect APN settings, not de-registering from iMessages (if coming from iPhone) or not disabling RCS, which Mudita Kompakt does not support. If you’re referring to group messages, that’s coming in an update later on this fall.
I am experiencing missed text messages and I have never used iMessage or RCS, and I’ve verified correct APN settings with my carrier. Others on the forum (who are also not registered with imessage or RCS) have reported similar behavior. On my Kompakt, I don’t receive every text message. I move my SIM card into a different, de-googled phone with a FOSS messenger, and everything works again

@clippy Are the messages you’re missing MMS or long messages by any chance?

Most of the dropped messages are short SMS messages

Hi all, I’m having similar issues to what others have described. I’ve been having issues with not receiving text messages from people (not only in group messages, but also individual texts), and I feel like it’s gotten worse since I updated to 1.3. I’ve tried sideloading both Fossify and Quik, and neither have resolved this issue. I also disabled RCS and iMessage when I first switched phones, and my APN settings match what my provider (Mint) has on their website. I’ve also stopped using offline+ mode to see if that would help but it hasn’t. I really don’t want to abandon this phone, but I’m getting close to the end of my rope here. I’ve screenshotted some settings below to see if @urszula or anyone else has suggestions of anything else I could try. Thanks in advance!
