Kompakt keeps dialling emergency services

I’ve had the kompakt for ~3 days now and am happy with it except for the fact that it frequently unlocks in my pocket when walking to dial for emergency. I saw another post earlier with the same issue. Last night it called in my pocket without me realizing (not sure if it called police or added some extra numbers in my pocket), and this afternoon it nearly did the same thing again.

I love most of the phone but it’s unusable if I’m constantly worried about it calling the police in my pocket. I’m on the most recent update- but if it doesn’t seem like this will be fixed I will have to return the device

I am experiencing a similair issue and even saw that when somebody put a pen on my kompakt, that was lying on the table, the screen went on and it unlocked itself while I have fingerprint and code so there is a bug somehow.

There is a known issue with hypersensitivity of the fingerprint sensor, which lead to pocket dialing.

Simple workaround:

I recommend that you read the other posts on that thread, too, so that you learn all about this issue!

I have the password removed completely. I found it to be the easiest solution. I find most people of the modern era don’t know how to work an eink phone.

@olivebloom I’m sorry that you’re experiencing some challenges with Mudita Kompakt. Can you tell me if you have the FINGERPRINT set or are you using a PIN to unlock your Mudita Kompakt?

There is a feature in Mudita Kompakt that lets you dial emergency services by pressing the POWER button 5 times in a row. It’s enables by default- but you could turn it off & then just dial dial emergency 112 or 911 directly from the dial pad.

Hi, I also called 911 today with the phone in my pocket. I don’t have fingerprint set. I have to press on the power button, swipe up (Emergency button shows here) and then use a PIN to unlock. So it seems Power button + Swipe up can happen in my pocket.

Is the only solution still to change the emergency number to 1 (or something else) for now?
I don’t have the case yet. I’m guessing accidentally pressing the Power button would happen less with the case? Or not really?

Thanks!

@mary I think you have this option set by default.

You can disable it, but you’ll still be able to call emergency services on the keypad.

Is there an option that the “emergency” option that shows when you are on the passcode screen can be removed? In my experience this is what happens - fingerprint is too sensitive, it props up the passcode screen and from there it is VERY easy to accidental push “emergency” and call 112. I feel that removing that will greatly improve this problem!

Yes, but I find it unlikely that the power button would have been pressed 5 times in a row from within my pocket. I tried it manually on purpose and it didn’t always work. So I’m thinking it most probably got pressed once and then with movement it swiped up and the Emergency option on the keypad was activated.

I will ask our team about this. I wonder is this is the culprit.

Yes! Exactly this one  I did follow the advice of other people and changed the emergency number to just “1”… But it still dials it anyway… and it’s getting frustrating.
This is what happens - any skin contact to the fingerprint sensor activates this exact screen and from there “emergency” is pushed and it dials. If we have the option to remove it from there - problem solved. Atleast for this scenario…

@astratev So, we found the culprit. Let me see if anything can be done about this.

Just wondering, is the issue happening also if the phone is put in the pocket back-to-butt?

Solution is simple, when the screen is locked (showing the Mudita logo, “Mudita Kompakt” and the button hint with arrow), the pin pad should only appear after pressing the button, never after only touching it. But touching with a valid registered fingerprint should still unlock the phone without having to press the button.

This issue is why I returned the phone - not that they have acknowledged the return or refunded me - 3 emergency calls with the phone in my pocket in one day.

@tomkow I just got confirmation from the customer service team that they have your return & are processing your refund today. You should get a follow-up from @szymonjaworski from our customer service team. I’m so sorry about the wait.

i think it could be solved. there is an software issue, the unlock screen should not react to the sensor but to the full press of the button. which is a bug imho. would love to see this fixed as well.

This happened to me this morning while I was out for a walk with the phone in a loose pocket. I have the “dial emergency services” option turned off completely, so it’s definitely that button on the dialpad.

It is the culprit and the reason I came to the forum. It has dialed ‘911’ multiple times; just today. There is no why to disconnect it either; even if you go to dialpad. Any timely help would be awesome!
