How this section of the forum works
The Kompakt Community App Ranking is a space for Kompakt owners/users to share their experiences with third-party apps installed on their phones. Before posting or relying on what you read here, a few principles are worth knowing up front.
Mudita does not host, recommend, or guarantee the quality and security of any of the apps discussed in this section. The Ranking and the threads around it are a place for users to exchange thoughts and information with one another.
Mudita can only take responsibility for software we build. Anything you install from outside the MuditaOS K ecosystem is installed at your own risk and discretion.
If content is illegal, offensive or potentially violates our community guidelines, we reserve the right to remove it. We do not verify the source of every link or investigate posts proactively. If you see something that should not be here, please flag it to the moderators. Each report will be handled on a case by case basis.
We reserve the right to remove posts that breach good conduct on the forum, including piracy, pornography, hate speech, and similar. Moderation decisions rest with the forum administrators.

Frequently asked questions
Who can share an app review on the forum?
Anyone who owns a Kompakt or tested a sideloaded app on Mudita Kompakt. Whether you have had your phone for a while or just unboxed it yesterday - if you have tried an app and have something you’d like to share, your review belongs here. The App Ranking is built on community contributions, and the more perspectives it gathers, the more useful it becomes to everyone!
What is sideloading?
Sideloading means installing an app on your phone from a file, rather than through an App store. The file is called an APK, and it contains the app’s installer. On Kompakt, sideloading is how you add apps that are not part of the phone’s default setup. It is a deliberate action on your part, and you decide what goes on your device.
How do I install an APK on Kompakt?
Two guides cover this end to end. The first is the installation article in Mudita Center, “How to add third-party apps to Kompakt”. The second is a more detailed step by step walkthrough on our Help Center at support.mudita.com: How to Sideload Apps on the Kompakt
Installing third-party apps via Mudita Center
Between the two, you have everything you need. If something does not go to plan, feel free to post in the [Community Support] Issues with sideloading thread.
How do I uninstall an APK from Kompakt?
There is currently no native way to uninstall sideloaded apps directly on Kompakt. We are working on bringing this functionality later this year.
In the meantime, members of the community have shared workarounds using third-party tools:
These methods have not been tested or verified by Mudita, and are shared between users at their own risk.
What should I do if I run into issues with installation or uninstallation?
Post in the [Community Support] Issues with sideloading thread, with a clear description of what you attempted and what went wrong. Screenshots and version numbers help other members diagnose the issue faster.
Mudita can only take responsibility for software we build, so our Customer Support is not set up to troubleshoot third-party apps. Community members will often have encountered the same issue and might be able to point you toward a solution.
If a sideloaded app has caused your Kompakt to slow down or become unresponsive, a factory reset will return the phone to a clean state. This removes all data from the device, so it should be treated as a last resort. The guide can be found here [LINK: support.mudita.com about factory resetting Mudita Kompakt].
Can Mudita Customer Support help with sideloaded apps?
No. Mudita does not host, verify, or quality and security of third-party apps, and we can only take responsibility for the software we build and ship ourselves. For questions about specific APKs, including installation, compatibility, or how an app behaves on Kompakt, the forum is the right place to ask. The Kompakt community has deep collective experience and can often help where our Customer Support cannot.
Can I install any application from Google Play or the Apple App Store?
Not directly. Kompakt runs MuditaOS K, which is not Google certified and does not include Google Play Services. Apps from the Play Store or the App Store cannot be downloaded and installed on Kompakt the same way they would be on a standard Android or iOS phone.
That said, the absence of Google services does not always mean an app will not work. Many Android apps do not rely on Google services to begin with, and those can run on Kompakt once you have the APK file. The App Ranking tracks what the community has found to work, and is a useful reference before you sideload anything new.
Where can I find APK files?
APK files can be found in several places online. The community forum and the App Ranking are often the best first stops, since other Kompakt owners will point to sources they have already used. Aurora Store and F-Droid are two widely used catalogues of APKs. Some developers also host APKs on their own websites.
Mudita does not host APKs and does not recommend any specific source. Before downloading, check that the site is reputable and that the file matches the version you expect.
How do I know if a particular app will work on Kompakt?
Unfortunately, you cannot know for certain. Compatibility depends on the individual app, its version, and what it relies on internally. The App Ranking is the closest thing to a reliable reference: if other owners have already reviewed the app, you will find notes on what works and what does not.
If the app has not been reviewed yet, you are effectively the first to test it on Kompakt, so please remember it is installed at your own risk.
