Will this work for ANY 3rd party app, or only for selected messengers ?
Hey, just wanted to say I have been using InkOS for about a month so far and really love it. Thank you so much for your work to develop and bring this to our community! However, I have had one major bug which appeared when I installed it – my SMS notifications no longer make any sound. Calls still come through with the regular ringtone, but I have to check my phone periodically to see if I have any messages. I have checked every setting I can think of to no avail. Appreciate any advice you can offer whenever you get the chance - it’s not an urgent thing but would definitely be nice to fix.
I’m glad you’re liking the launcher!
This is not related to inkOS, because it has no system privileges to cause notifications to have sound or not.
Have you tried clicking the
gear icon that appears near the title of a notification in Letters or Simpletray pages. And then see if you might have accidentally turned-off the android notifications for the SMS app, which would cause for you to have no sound.
Hope this helps
@YYZ They will work with any 3rd party app, same as they do in inkOS notifications. inkOS will simply forward them to the lock screen.
Great! It seems v0.5 is going to be awesome ![]()
Hey Gezimos, I just finally gave it a try and I’m loving it.
There is just one thing I don’t fully understand.
Quick tray (that appears e.g. when you tap the notification bell by default) versus “Letters” - it seems that they are not fully in sync when comes to notifications. Sometimes they don’t go away when an app is finally read.
Honestly I’d prefer getting rid of using the Quick Tray completely and having Letters apear upon the bell tap. I prefer that one as the main notifications view. Is that doable?
Very happy to hear that, thanks for giving it a try
Yes they’re not synced on purpose. Because Letters caches the notifications, simple tray on other hand is dynamic and it responds to the app or android and clears the notification.
The idea behind Letters originally was to be able to read notifications at your own pace, without having to open the app at all. Also it was like a defensive function to catch notifications that the default apps (for example the phone app) were removing.
There is an option in Notificaton Settings called “Clear when app opens”. So it will clear them and kinda “sync” them with the Simpletray/home.
You can remove the quick tray by changing the swipe down in Settings / Gestures to something else or to “disabled”.
Believe me we’re in the same page, yesterday I was tapping on it and realized that not all people want to use the SimpleTray, and some just prefer the cached Letter notifications. So i’m thinking of adding a switch to allow the user to choose which type of notifications should the counter show. So it should come with the next update.
Again, Dziekuje for the coffee ![]()
Hi Gezimos, thanks for the upgrade, one question:
How do I remove the wallpaper from the screen?
To hide the wallpaper you can change the Background opacity to 255 (it makes the wallpaper opacity 0).
But if you also set the lockscreen wallpaper, it might still be visible sometimes so for that you can use this empty white image below and set it as a wallpaper/lockscreen and it will. be fully gone.
In the next version i’ll have a preset directly on the app so users won’t have to do this.
