Wow, @gezimos, what an awesome update, I love it! Been using inkOS since day 2 and I don’t think I could enjoy the Kompakt without it.

BTW, I’m still on 1.1.1 - let me know if you want any accessibility features tested.

Hi ! Thank you and congrats for this amazing launcher ! Small question : When I turn my mudita off with your launcher, I get a black screen, no “Powered off” indication. Is it normal ? If not, how can I resolve the issue ?

Thanks again !

@csllr Yeah, I’m not liking the UI/UX of any of the Podcast apps, they’re overloaded with features and always have this material design that doesn’t look good in e-ink. This is gonna be my interpretation.

@pok Thank you, glad you’re liking it :slight_smile:
You can test the “lock screen” and “power dialog” in Settings/Gestures. They require accessibility features. The “recents” and “quick settings” won’t work because Mudita has removed them, I’ve added those for other devices.

@starvin_fish Thank you!

inkOS has no “system” access so it can’t affect the Lockscreen at all, especially if the device is off. What version of Mudita OS K are you on? Have you disabled the Mudita Launcher or uninstalled it? (only disable is required, uninstalling can cause issues to your device).

That doesn’t sound like normal behavior, you might have a corrupted OS/update.

Post a picture of your OS version and a picture of your screen when off.

Agreed on the podcasts apps. They really need to be more simple, e-ink or no e-ink.

Hey everyone, quick question on the Inkos, do you get any kind of notification or *
for missed calls? For some reason I don’t see anything, even though I have phone notifications turned on.**

@messy_paddock.6y, I believe there is a known limitation re: lack of notifications for missed calls. More details upthread:

@messy_paddock.6y Like @ewoo said, phone notifications use their own channel for notifications not visible to third-party apps. They send “empty” notifications publicly, and they get removed by the system immediately.

The only sorta work in Notifications Window (Letters), where Phone notifications will shows as “Notification received” which is a fallback I’ve added for empty notifications.

This is not something can be fixed, not unless Mudita updates their app to work with standard notifications. Because it works perfectly fine with other phone apps.

Which is weird because the SMS app does use a proper notification channel, though has its quirks though.

I agree! I just want to play something quickly, having to decide: podcasts, episodes, new episodes, downloads, mini player, queue it’s too many steps.

Also I don’t want to see big cover images, large descriptions that are filled with ads. Plus I don’t want “discover” as this phone is too small to read about details. It just needs a simple search and add rss link.

…and then (at least in Antennapod) you have things like download / delete, mark as played, delete from queue… What does that all do? If played, does it delete? If removed from queue, is it played? It’s a bad UX.

Fun story, I reinstalled the launcher, disabled the Mudita one, and now everything works ! I’ll let you know if things pop up, but so far it is PER-FECT !!

Quick question : Can we create our own wallpapers ? Is there an online tool to facilitate it ?

PhotoPea is a pretty good photoshop replacement for free. No registration required.
Kompakt’s resolution is 480x800 so keep it at that or make it 2x at 960x1600.
Colors keep them at #000000 for full black and #FFFFFF for full white.

You can also give images to LLM like chatgpt and ask them to generate something for you or compose/make edits.

Tip: take a screenshot of your homescreen and use it as a base for the wallpaper so you avoid covering apps/widgets.

Just an idea for people to try. Love the work that @gezimos is doing, but I prefer the built in Notification Log to the inkOS notification page. I’ve actually set a gesture in the new inkOS version to link to the built in Notifications Log instead of the inkOS notifications page. Thank you, @gezimos, for making that a possibility (my original set-up included using a button mapper, but I uninstalled that when inkOS came along)!

Can you elaborate on the Button Mapper idea, please?

@paxristi Thank you.
Originally the “letters page” I was literally re-making the android notification tray. It allowed multiple notifications per app in order, and you could swipe to dismiss them. But to me that felt wrong, and it is a reason why escaped the other conventional phones.

That’s why I went the opposite way with the full page per notification.
However on v0.2 I thought it’s good to allow some good hidden settings shortcuts, even though original approach was to basically include the whole list of hidden activities, but that was taking too much too load and was giving me crashes so I limited to some important ones like Notification Log

What a thread!
Haven’t read all yet.
How does the continius displaying of the time affect the battery life?
I think I will install this launcher as soon as I get enough time and courage (I’m not so very in confidence working on Android).
