I understand that this is a pain point for the Light Phone devices as well, but I know I had experienced issues with the reliability of the alarm app for the Kompakt when I first received it at launch. Some users have reported the alarms not going off until quite some time after that which was selected (or not even going off at all). If the stock alarm clock still has ongoing issues, is there an alternative you use? I have noticed that with 3rd party launchers, the AOSP Clock app becomes available, and even the timer will take 1st position as an overlay on top of other apps when the timer goes off. Maybe this is yet another problem that @gezimos plans to solve with their launcher, InkOS? The list goes on as to the issues that have already been solve by this launcher and I will continue to speak highly of it! Pumped for the next release!
So I don’t use the alarm very often and to me I think it has rang on time every time or I was too sleepy to notice it was delayed.
The issue I had though was one time the alarm rang but it wouldn’t show over the apps, it was ringing on the background and there was no way to stop it, so I had to go and force stop the alarm app and restart the phone a few times and it started acting correctly.
I have tried Fossify Clock (beta), but haven’t tested how it works overnight. I think you need to mess with hidden settings like Duraspeed and Battery optimizations to remove the background restrictions so it doesn’t fall asleep to make sure it works properly.
For inkOS definitley not, I’m trying to keep the app as small as possible. But in the future I might try to make a better launcher from scratch that has more mini-apps included.
Tested the alarm this morning and it rangs 3 minutes late.
I know it is not me sleeping because I had another alarm on another device.
The Mudita alarm was set to 7:35 but went off at 7:38. Not a big issue for me as, anyway, the alarm cannot be set with a precision less than 5 minutes. But it is important to know.
If you tap in the numbers you can actually change it with single digit precision, the keypad appears
Today, my alarm went off 1 minute late but stopped itself after 10 seconds. That’s a bit short so there’s clearly some issue with the alarm.
My alarm keeps working fine, although I think at some point it gives up (at least it did for me before update, ran entire audio file and quit). I can’t reproduce it going off late.
The alarm issue is probably the biggest mystery. ![]()
I’ll put my two cents (or zloty) in
Mine works fine. I use a Mudita Bell when I’m at home, but the Kompakt is perfect when I travel. So far, it has worked like a charm.
I am also affected by this bug, and it would be nice to know if it is being worked on. It doesn’t seem to have been fixed with the latest update.
I also use the Mudita Bell, but when I’m staying away from home, it would be nice to be able to rely on the alarm clock on the Kompakt.
I’ve had constant delays with about 5 minutes since i bought it. Lucky I have a backup-alarm.
I have a spare alarm set up, but besides one time on the original firmware, I have never had it go off late
I am still on 1.1.1 and never had problems with the alarm app but one of the first thing I did after getting the device was poking around hidden Android settings, and I am sure I disabled battery optimizations for the alarm (and sms and phone apps). Maybe try doing that? You can access that hidden setting through Activity Manager or Activity Launcher, and finding the HighPowerApplicationsActivity in the com.android.settings app
Thanks for the tip, I’ve disabled battery optimisation for the Alarm.
I know the team is aware of this bug & they are working on it. I will ask when it’s expected to be fixed.
Disabing battery optimization for Alarm solve all the issues I had.
@ploum Thank you for this info- I told my team about this.
How do I find these settings in the developer options? I only found battery optimization with restricted apps via the search function, but no system apps are displayed. Only AntennaPod and Auxio.
@marko Search for Duraspeed and see if that is on, and then you might find the Alarm app restricted there, so turn it off.
Or if you have Activity Launcher app, you can search for hidden activities “Battery Optimization” and then click all apps and unrestrict the Alarm
Thank you very much. Duraspeed shows me all the apps. I’ve checked the box for the alarm clock and will test it out ![]()
It would still be nice if this were fixed in one of the next updates. There are also users who cannot or do not want to make such settings. And a pre-installed alarm clock should work.
My conspiracy theory is that they broke the alarm on purpose so they can sell more clocks!!!

The device is distraction-free, isn’t it? It should not distract you from your beautiful dreams! Waking up early to please a boss is not Mindfulness!
