For some reason my headphone jack isn’t working when I try to use it for hands free calling, it works fine for listening to music but the person can’t hear me when I try to talk to them even though I can hear them speaking. Has anyone had similar issues?
@reggie99 Let me make sure I understand what’s happening: You can use your headphones when listening to music, but when you try to use your headphones for phone calls, the person cannot hear you, but you can hear them.
Did I describe the situation correctly?
Yes, that’s correct.
Do your headphones have a mic? If so, are you sure that mic is working?
Yes, I use a pair of 3.5mm Apple EarPods.
HI Reggie,
That doesnt work because its apple EarPods, they dont work with most of android phones due to the fact that they have swapped slots on the jack, their placement is different and thats prevents some things, even when i used a dongle to connect 3.5mm jack earpods to usb-c i still could not use microphone on the earpods.
That’s a shame, I’ve been using them for the last two years with my Nokia and they are by far the comfiest earphones I have ever used - would it make a difference if I purchased the USB C type rather using the 3.5mm to USB C adapter?
If you buy earpods with usb-c then they should work just fine as those are intended for other phones than iPhones as far as i know but i have not tested it, i had 3.5mm earpods with xiaomi dongle 3.5mm - usb-c.
Music was fine, i could start and stop, i believe i could change the volume but i could not change the track with double click on + or - and microphone was not working.
Now i have Marshall minor IV which i find more comfortable, amazing sound quality for such small size with perfectly working controls.
I came here to say the things all the other community members have mentioned. Apple products are notorious for not wanting to play with other ecosystems. When they do, it’s great, but it’s not always a given.
I just discovered that I have the same issue – input from my wired headphones (Sennheiser) doesn’t work… Which is quite an ugly surprise to be honest. I discovered it while trying to have a call. And then tested it with recorder – records only have some noice but no real sound.
Does anyone have the same issue?
I must say, your attempt to blame apple any time they are mentioned is uneducated and in many cases unjustified. It has nothing to do with apple unless it is proven to work reliably with non-apple analogue.
Just wanted to say I’m having the exact same issue with the same 3.5mm apple EarPods. While apple definitely has a walled garden and don’t like integrating, 3.5mm headphone jacks don’t really have any software involved, it’s just an audio signal, and the same headphones and microphone work fine for everything else, like playing Fortnite on my PS5 and chatting with my squad. Is this a hardware issue on the Kompakt, or a software issue (I.e. not recognizing the audio input from the microphone).
I’ll be honest, I’m not very familiar with apple and their ecosystem (it’s never worked well for me- so, I don’t reach for them. I avoid if I can). But that’s just my experience & preference. If others had a different experience and maybe can help, I appreciate the input.
