After the most recent update, my group chat hasn’t been functioning properly, it actually got worse as it’s still does the thing where I have to download all of the texts from people individually for them to show up in the group chat and they’re all unsorted and now it is also doing the thing I’ve seen other people complain about where if I message back in the group chat, it messages all the people individually versus showing up in the group chat only.

Group messages are typically sent as Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) because they involve multiple recipients and often multimedia, even if it’s just text, requiring cellular data and carrier servers to manage the thread.
This means you have to enable MMS in settings, if you have not enabled this before:
