I was thrilled to receive my Kompakt earlier this week and have been testing it out for a couple of days. It’s such a lovely device and holds great promise, but unfortunately I had to revert back to my previous phone for now.
I was met with a couple of inconveniences which have already been discussed here https://forum.mudita.com/t/folders-for-music-on-mudita-kompakt and here https://forum.mudita.com/t/keyboard-and-languages/. Additionally, there’s a minor design flaw in the initial setup process: during the fingerprint scan the instructions keep saying “one more time” throughout the whole process, which I find a bit condescending when you can see the progress bar moving little by little
But the deal breaker was the fact that I couldn’t get dual-SIM working - neither with two SIM cards or eSIM+SIM combo.
The phone clearly recognized both SIM cards, but the #2 didn’t connect even though the settings were identical (same carrier). I figured I’d try eSIM, but the process got stuck loading after the QR scan, so I had to revert to my old phone as an emergency option. I was connected to wifi and all that.
Have some of you managed to make it work? Is there something I’m doing wrong here?

I can confirm that dual sim works on my device, regular sim plus an esim. Different carriers. It was my first time setting up esim and I was surprised it took hours, maybe it’s normal or varies from carrier to carrier.
One oddity was that when I got notified by my carrier that they activated the esim, it still wasn’t working in the Kompakt. I think I had to reboot the phone, maybe I also removed my other sim temporarily first. Then it started working.

Thanks for the response, good to hear that you got it working! Maybe I should just be more patient. I think I waited for like 10 minutes, which I thought would be enough. On my old phone it took less than a minute

My two SIM cards work when I receive calls, but what I would really like to see is that as soon as one loses network, it activates the internet on the second SIM card.

That’s great! That would be a nice feature indeed. Btw, did you run the initial setup with both of the SIM cards inserted? I think someone posted about an issue with SIM cards not working unless they are in during the setup, so now I’m wondering if I should try reset the device for it to work.

I did the initial setup without any SIM cards in, did the software update and all and only set up the cards afterwards

I can’t get my eSIM to work.
I’m in Germany and if I scan the QR code provided by my provider the screen changes to “Loading data”. Nothing else happens. The strange thing is that I can’t go back, only home, but I can still activate the light if I touch the right spot.
If I enter the code manually I get the same but I can’t toggle the light because on the code input screen there is no such button.
I already restarted multiple times, I did 2 factory resets but nothing really works.
When I open Settings / Network and Internet, sometimes Mobile Network with the subtitle Add a Network pops up for a nanosecond, almost impossible to notice.
I really need my phone so I’m thankful for a quick response and solution.

Have you tried sideloading a browser like Firefox? It might help if the QR code page request is opened by another browser, not by the built in WebViewer.

Interesting, sounds like you have similar issues as I do. I’ll let you know if I find a fix!

@anoniononioning I also got 2 Sim Cards to work + I tested an eSim while traveling & that also worked.
As for the Folder for Music- Mudita Kompakt already has them:
We are working on making sure you can do it through Mudita Center.
As far as the Keyboard, special characters are supported, but I’m going to ask the team about additional languages, like you mentioned.

Thanks @urszula, looking forward to hearing back from the team!
I’m don’t know eSIM tech that deeply, so I wonder if there could be some regional differences and compatibility issues. Just thinking what I should do now then - try again or wait for future updates. I need to request for a new eSIM to switch phones, which costs 4 eur.
Folders for music files isn’t really the issue, it’s the fact that on the phone there’s just the “All Songs” view with no search function. For me it’s a list of thousands of songs - quite impractical haha

what is the difference between pictures folder and DCIM?

@anon80904485 For me, that’s where screenshots go & DCIM is where pictures from the camera go.

@urszula oh awesome! And what would go on downloads? Like a plane ticket or something if I got it off my computer? Thanks!

Bit of an update on the eSIM issue. I tried factory resetting the phone after installing the newest update and that didn’t seem to have an impact on setting up the eSIM. Still the same issue - just keeps “Loading data…”
I also tried typing in the 64 (!) character activation code instead of using the QR, and got an error message. There’s clearly something wrong here.
Any ideas?
