Aurora Store problems

Hi, I just purchased a Mudita Kompakt (1.4.0) and have been quite happy with it until I tried to add an App that requires Google Play Services through the Aurora Store App. I had no problem downloading it following the instructions in the forum, but have now done a factory reset of the phone and after sideloading the Aurora Store App am unable to download any apps with a message saying it is incompatible with the phone. I also noticed that the second time around it was asking for a Google account, which I entered and it did not take.

Obviously, I prefer to live without WhatsApp having purchased this phone. It would be nice though for one particular person if I could be reachable in that way.

I also get an Orange Alert message saying the phone cannot be trusted. I turned off Developer options, but still get the Orange Alert. I talked myself out of installing another OS on the Kompakt, since I can barely find files on this MacBook without blowing a fuse. Hope you all are enjoying a relaxing weekend.

I totally feel your pain on the ‘blowing a fuse’ part! Minimalist phones can be a bit of a learning curve. If Aurora is acting up with your Google account, try using the ‘Anonymous’ login instead - it’s usually way less buggy. Also, keep in mind that since Mudita doesn’t have Google Play Services, some apps (like WhatsApp) might notify you that they ‘won’t run,’ but they often work just fine if you ignore the warning!

@bethanyb Thanks for sharing this. What app did you try to download. I have Aurora Store on my phone & I’ve never had any issues. I want to check out how this app behaves on my phone, just to see if it could be anything else that we may be missing.

I was encountering an error in downloading WhatsApp, but the next day was able to download it using the Anonymous Google login. To be honest, I feel strange using WhatsApp on the Kompakt.

Why? Can you elaborate?

I have also issues with Aurora Store.

Updated de Mudita Kompact to 1.5 and installed Aurora Store with ADB (the latest APK)
Login anonymous but every app i want to install….preparing to download and dan nothing happens.
Sometime it works when i do a forced stop and re-opening Aurora Store.

I recommend making a throwaway google account and logging into the client, I’ve found it works more reliably that way

are you kidding me?

I hate Google and Big-Tech.
I have used deGoogled OS since a long time with eOS.
Never had issues with Aurora Store
Now i have bought a new deGoogled device and now you want me to make a Google account?

It sounds like people who want a deGoogled device on a Google Pixel or installing Linux and setup a windows wallpaper on it.
Excuse me, but i cannot understand this.

No Google=No Google

I think that’s a new concept to you @michielpeters ?

Dear @ArmchairSetup can you explain what a throwaway account is?

Let’s take some deep breaths buddy, no need to get your knickers in a knot. A “throwaway account” in this context is a google account you create for the sole purpose of downloading apps; you don’t use it for anything else so it can’t be used to track you. This is common practice among users of privacy focused ROMs such as GrapheneOS.

You still have to made a new Google account and thats not what i want.
On eOS it was never needed to have that.
Aurora store worked as well and i am pretty sure that this is not going to solve this problem.

I can directly Download and install the APK’s but Aurora Store helps me to get my apps up-to-date.

With all respect I do not buy a deGoogled device to make a Google Account for it to use it.
Also use Graphene OS on a Google Phone sounds really strange to me.
Then you dont understand the reason why people make this choice.

Because the google pixel is the most secure android phone, full stop. If you replace the stock software with a privacy respecting OS, it can also be the most private android phone. Simply making a google account cannot compromise your privacy unless you also give it information about you. But what do I know big guy, sounds like you’re the expert :slightly_smiling_face:.

I do not say that the Pixel is a bad phone right?
I just don’t want to spend my money on a company that stealing my data and don’t respect my privacy.
It’s still a Google Phone.

But that was not my question here.
My point is clearly.

It looks that the problem on downloading the apps on Aurora-Store is only on the free and no-advertising apps.
Since a couple of days i can download the normal apps. You can select it, but that the problenm on my side.
The only thing is that some apps do not work, but not the apps i really needed.
And also with an anonymous Aurora account.

So for me this topic can be closed.

Dear @michielpeters Help me get this privacy concern you have understood?

You use your name as your handle?
You put your photo in your avatar?

This is an open internet forum, you know?

Not saying that’s you… just an example.
