Hello,
Doesn’t matter if I use the mudita music player or any other 3rd party player or streaming app. Bluetooth audio has a big stutter issue.
The phone does not do this on headphones or speakers, only on the car audio. I tried in my and my wife’s car.
To make troubleshooting easier I’m going to give details on what is the situation and what I have tried;
- I’m using Mudita Kompakt on v1.6
- The car is a BMW 330e year 2020.
- The car has or had no bluetooth problems before, works perfectly fine with any other iPhone or Android phone, with or without CarPlay Android Auto.
- I tried the phone being charged or not charged as I was troubleshooting.
- I have disconnected, reconnected, forgot, re-pair the devices countless times.
- I killed every background app/task i can kill.
- I have reset the phone.
- I have reset the car infotainment system.
- I have tried downloaded music, I have tried streamed music.
- I have downloaded music from multiple streaming platforms with lowest quality.
- Services/apps i tried; native mudita music player, CalmMusic, one F-droid app that has been suggested here a lot but I truly forgot the name, spotify, youtube and apple. (I used all my “free for first month’s” and currently I’m sticking to AppleMusic as it has the least amount of audio stutters) Also yes I have disabled everything in these apps if they had any animations, canvas’ if they had it or showing lyrics. I made the apps as bare minimum as they can be.
- Bluetooth AVCRP I have tried 1.4 and 1.3, does not make a difference.
- Limited the maximum connected audio device to 1.
- Dropped the sample rate, codec, bits per sample to low or in connection favor.
- It gets better when; I start playing music, shut the bluetooth off, turn it on, connect with the car’s menu manually, music starts back automatically. This helps as the audio stutters become 1 - 2 per minute rather than 10 - 15 per minute.
All of these I did with of course restarting the phone and re-pairing the devices. This was one of the longest troubleshooting adventures I had in a long time. The car does not have a 3.5mm audio connection. I know I can get a usb-c to 3.5mm to use this but, I truly do not want another cable under my armrest. In my opinion, a bluetooth connection should work on a phone…
If anyone has any other idea on how to solve this issue, please let me know. I have long commutes and music helps. The audio stuttering as you are trying to listen is very annoying.
Note; I don’t know if this helps with anything, audio stutters on mostly low to mid range frequencies somehow, like a growly bass part or a low synth part in music triggers it more. (I don’t have magic ears but my guess is 200-300 kHz)
