Will a new phone number resolve group text issues?

I want to start by saying I love the Mudita Kompakt, but difficulties with group chats could be a dealbreaker. It is the only significant issue I have recognized thus far.

Similar to many others, I am having difficulties with group texting since my contacts’ phones default to RCS messaging when texting in a groupchat. I’ve tried to have some of my contacts delete all group chats I’ve been a part of to prevent future groups from defaulting to RCS, but unfortunately, this is not practical nor is it realistic. Someone I don’t text often created a groupchat with me last week and I never received the message, therefore giving them the impression that I had ignored them.

So my question is: Would getting a new phone number with my carrier (Mint Mobile) on the Mudita Kompakt resolve any texting issues associated with RCS messaging, since the new phone number would not have previously been on my iPhone/phone that uses RCS messaging?

If not, is there hope for this issue being fixed in the near future?

I hope I have explained myself well enough. Thank you!

Probably yes? I mean registering a new SIM with a new phone number, and getting your friends to add that new phone number (that was never used with a Google Android or Apple phone) to your chat groups probably should work. I am not sure if contacting your phone operator to change the already registered SIM to a different number would work, maybe yes, maybe not.

If not, is there hope for this issue being fixed in the near future?

Mudita will most likely not get RCS messages support, and the issue is Apple+Google duopoly’s fault really… With not respecting RCS de-registration for group messages specifically, it’s probably Apple’s fault. So… I don’t think it’s being fixed in the near future :frowning:
