WhatsApp desktop sync is stuck

Hi there,

I successfully transferred my iPhone WhatsApp to my Kompakt WhatsApp, so that my entire history and live chats are available on my Kompakt.

I wanted to sync again on WhatsApp Desktop (macOS), and while the initial connection is working, I can’t sync messages past the first day of sync. When I try to sync, after a few seconds, it shows “Sync Paused” and it never continues. On the Kompakt, it first showed my laptop as “Active”, shorty after it switches to “Last active today at [1 min earlier]”, 1 minute later is switches again to “Active”, and then again to “Last active today…”. Both devices are on the same stable home network.

In other words, the connection doesn’t seem to remain active. Has anyone managed to have WhatsApp Desktop fully synced? Is there some permission I might have missed? Note that I used the official WhatsApp apk sideloaded via Mudita Center.

i tried installing whatapp desktop on the pc, therte ris known issue with the desktop vesion linked to Microsoft store, I could not get it to sync. I eventually deleted it and used the browser version which doesnt require Microsoft store and everything works again, I dont use it on my Mudita but syncing it with any phone and the pc both mac and windows had the same problem

Hi @sundancermartin, thanks for your answer. Your experience seems quite different to my problem, which is syncing messages on WhatsApp desktop on macOS, and Mudita Kompakt being my primary phone.

I think they are related though, the desktop app looks for updates to the app when it starts up, regardless of the phone you are trying to share with, and because of an issue with the Microsoft store, it hangs and causes the syncing process to halt.

If you use the web app in a browser it works perfectly

I’m on macOS, so I’m not using the Microsoft store version you mention. Also, it worked perfectly well with my iPhone before.

Of course sorry ….. I did have a similar problem problems on Mac also when syncing, but not with the store, and not only with the Mudita, iPhone to Mac works well. I think it’s Android that doesn’t, had the same problem with my Google pixel on Mac and windows.

I would definitely try the WhatsApp web app, I don’t get any syncing issues with anything now
