The phone can be minimalist without stripping away settings that exist by default in AOSP. Especially when it was shipped with half-working apps that were outright inferior to FOSS apps that already existed and sometimes we need access to those settings just to have the basic functionality that we expect.
Everyone keeps using the excuse “well it should be minimalist.” Sure, then just sell a flip phone. But if the phone uses android, then I expect that I should be able to access the android settings. If the phone uses wi-fi, I expect to be able to access all the wi-fi settings (and yes that’s another area where the devs stripped away options).
And ok, it’s true that you didn’t say it would have all settings. You also didn’t say you were going to remove them. If you removed the clock from the phone you could say “we never said it would have a clock” but people would be rightfully pissed off because it’s so basic that it’s just expected unless you explicitly tell us it won’t be included.
Mudita believes that what 1k people explicitly requested once is the sum total of requirements. Forgetting that some things are so blindlingly obvious that nobody would regard them as features, like … oh, off the top of my head … a timer.
I doubt it. I really think it is a screenshot sent from an Iphone. They were talking about something grok said and I don’t think they would make a gif oout of that.
Yeah, just wanted to chime in and say this happens on my device as well. I’m running InkOS as my custom Home Launcher, and this exact bug occurs reproducibly. No big deal for me at all as this affects nothing for me currently, but just wanted to note that it’s happening on my device as well.
Your screen looks exactly the same as mine, the drop down menu without the “Default Apps” option. Also noticing that you are running InkOS, just like me. I updated to Mudita OS K v1.4.0 while still running InkOS, I wonder if these issues are because of that? I considered removing InkOS before updating Mudita OS K, but I chose to run the update without removing InkOS. I think I’m going to try making a backup of my Kompakt in Mudita Center, factory resetting the device, and then installing version 1.4.0 from stock factory settings to see if any of these little issues go away. Then I will probably re-install InkOS, lol. I’ll post an update here after that’s done.
Just got the update installed and have run into a very disappointing new problem, SMS group chats no longer allow you to send photos when previously they would not sure why this decision was made but it is incredibly inconvenient and is gonna make using them such a pain. would have stayed on 1.3 if I knew this was going to be the case
Copy that, I’ll try this out first when I’m at the PC later. Good idea, thanks! If that doesn’t fix the missing Default Apps category or the Settings App Crash bug when clicking on “App Layout” then I’ll try the factory reset as a last resort.
@urszula is there any plan to allow us to name a message group? I have different groups that share some of the same people, and it just says a name or two then +_ others, which can be kind of confusing. I am very grateful to have the option to create groups now! I just wanted to ask.
If I wasn’t clear while answering @petemeister:
I also got InkOS but no weird popups and bars like you guys.
But I have very little extra apps sideloaded.
