I still don’t have the update, but am in no rush at all.
I actually wanted to know more about the fixed bugs and if the update introduces new ones (as was with the previous one).
Interestingly enough, this time around I haven’t seen much (or any) complaints about newly introduced bugs…
Yes I know, I’ve sideloaded KOreader, but don’t like it. Letters are too small, menus to complicated and it’s not really possible to easily scroll through your ebooks. I like the simplicity of the stock ereader, it’s just this grey/ pale text… I hope they can fix this, then the reader is perfectly fine. Especially now with the possibility to read in horizontal mode.
There is a much longer list of fixes in the release text of the actual update on the Kompakt, you will see when it arrives. I just don’t spend much time on testing all of them. But accessibility settings are back, so apps like KillApps now work again.
In the default apps section there are only 6 entries, default browser, default phone etc, but for example no default music player. Am I missing something ?
When I want to run KillApps, I have to allow it in the accessibility settings. However, the next time I launch KillApps, I have to allow it again, the setting is not remembered.
I’m experiencing the same issue with version 1.3.0. If you’re encountering the same problem with version 1.4.0, it seems the Mudita team hasn’t addressed it. I find it very strange since several other bugs have been fixed and features added to the app. Doesn’t the Mudita team notice that the letters turn gray when scrolling through the pages in the app? (Ping @urszula)
have you tried with any other accessibility settings apps? Keymapper would be another test app you can try. I enabled it back when the settings worked prior to 1.2.0 and have been using it ever since. Since I am still on 1.2.0 (and the settings are broken), I have E-Ink Screen Saver app requesting accessibility each time I launch, but no way to grant them due to the the bug present on my current OS version.
It’s hard to believe that half of the video is dedicated to showing the SMS app improvements, but I am glad they are finally here! Excited to see the next video of updates! This is shaping up to be quite an amazing tool!
I just tried the E-Ink Screen Saver, and it behaves even worse. First it asks for several permissions, and once I granted accesibility, it gets stuck in that loop so if I want to go back and change app settings, it keeps asking me to grant permission. If I accept, nothing happens, and if I decline, it keeps asking me for permission. And the shortcut (same as with KillApps) just sits there on the front screen, but if I touch it, nothing happens, I can only move it around.
So to me it looks like the accessibility settings AND the default apps list are buggy. I’m hoping that @gezimos will add a better default apps shortcut to InkOS, because I used to have a lot more options in 1.3.0 when I searched for default apps in the developer options than I have now with 1.4.0.
