Verizon not working on Mudita Kompakt

I went to the Verizon store to switch over the the Kompakt and it turns out the IMEI is not usable on the network. I currently use an iphone 15 with esim so I do not have a physical sim to swap or another device to setup and swap.

When researching this phone vs other options I swear it was explicit that it would be compatible with Verizon (purchased the NA optimized version FYI). Any suggestions on next steps other than getting a different phone and attempting a physical sim swap or switching carriers?

Sent a support ticket to Mudita with regards to this problem four days ago with no response. Based on other comments on this forum a refund/timely response seems unlikely.

Any tips to get this resolved?

I’m using Verizon on it with both Esim and physical sim card. LTE works and same with talk but SMS is very bad only receiving 50% of texts. on going issue many calls with Verizon.

@Jhot Make sure that your APN settings are set to the ones Verizon uses. This has been reported by a few users & updating the APN setting seems to do the trick.

@graysonhammon Welcome to the Mudita Forum. We’re glad you’re here. Just to make sure I understand- you’re trying to move your eSim from your iPhone 15 to Mudita Kompakt?
Please keep in mind that not all carriers support transferring an eSIM to another device. This may be the case & you might have to request a physical SIM.

When it comes to US providers that work with Mudita Kompakt:
Radio tests for Mudita Kompakt on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks have returned positive results. So, network connection should not be a problem. eSIM functionality has also been successfully tested.
If for some reason, you are having some challenges with activating, we recommend using another device initially (just for the activation process & then moving the SIM card over to Mudita Kompakt) or manually entering the APN settings if needed. The APN settings are used for MMS messages

What should the APN settings be set to for verizon? Can you also share the breadcrumbs to get there?

@ardila For Verizon VoLTE, the relevant APN settings are typically:

  • APN Name: vzwinternet
  • APN: vzwinternet
  • MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
  • APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6

If you need to manually configure or verify the IMS APN for VoLTE, you may need to add the following:

  • APN: vzwims

BUT, this may differ in your region. So, please verify these with your service provider.

I can’t seem to change the MMSC on mine, which is set to “not selected”. I am having major issues getting any MMS photo messages or group texts. I had no problems in my first few weeks!

@becks Let me ask our team? Have you updated your APN settings?

Update: I decided not to attempt to work through the APN settings for now. I got a new line from T-Mobile which has worked fine, I forward calls to my Mudita # from my iPhone and side loaded OpenBubbles. Not ideal but works.

How do you update APN settings? I’m in a similar boat as becks. I can’t edit MMSC. Everything else you list -APN name, apn, apn protocol- looks as you stated.

@robmfr When you go into Network & Internet (in the settings) Click on your network provider & then click on ADVANCED.

Then you’ll be taken to this screen, where you should be able to input the APN Settings

When I get to this point I cannot edit the date on the existing APNs nor do I see how to create a new one.

@josephphillip Do you have a brand new Verizon SIM card or do you have an existing SIM card which you just swapped from your old phone to the Mudita Kompakt?

It’s a brand new Verizon SIM card.

@josephphillip ACTIVATE the sim card in a device that’s already been on the VERIZON network- like your old phone. Make sure it works there, then try switching it back to Mudita Kompakt.

Also- is it Pre-paid, or Post-paid, because that sometimes makes a difference how the network treats new devices which you did not buy from their store.

Thanks so much, what’s the difference between pre and post paid.

Pre-paid is when you pay as you go. No long term contract.
Post-paid means you signed a contract with Verizon for a term & then you get a bill at the end of the month.

Ok, I have a Verizon phone with an E SIM so I just went to one of their stores and purchased a SIM card without purchasing a plan for it, assuming I could use it with the Kompakt

@josephphillip So, you have a PHYSICAL sim card? Correct?
If you have a PHYSIAL sim car, then just activate in in your other device & then just switch it over. Verizon get get a bit picky if the activation phone is not purchased in their store & therefore ‘not approved by them’
Try that & let me know how that goes.

This worked thanks.
