Using camera to confirm identity in Monzo banking app

Hello, I am trying to use the UK banking app Monzo. I have side loaded the APK and it runs and lets me log in fine. however whenever you start using it on a new device you have to send them a video of yourself to prove your identity. I have allowed Camera permissions for the app and briefly see the camera app with a blank screen but then the Monzo app takes me to a screen saying it couldn’t access the camera. Just wondering if anyone has come across something like this and has any ideas for fixes?

its probably looking for a front facing camera, I have a messaging app which does the same, the default camera in apps like this is the selfie camera. If there is a way to switch camera in the app you may find that solves the problem.

I think that’s the problem, the Kompakt is not compatible with the banking app because it does not have a front facing camera.

How do I open Monzo app without Face ID?
Long press on the Monzo app icon. Select Don’t Require Face ID.

I explained about not having a front facing camera to Monzo support and it turns out they have an alternative way to authenticate you using a still image. This is just a one time authentication to set up the app as you cns just use your card PIN number from then on so all works fine now thank you!

Have you managed to solve this issue? If so how are you getting on using Monzo on the phone? Having access to my internet baking accounts is the only thing getting in the way of making the jump to this phone!

I’m really interested because N26 has the same issue and I could not find a workaround. I’ve to keep another phone just for that app.
