Really eh, are you from ontario?
I tried it in BC and NS
ah yeah I did notice there are regional differences, if you look on reddit people from those provinces complained about those providers, but here in the greater toronto area, virgin and lucky mobile work, I know fido, rogers do not work here
Yeah its all over the place, despite having bands and connectivity. To me that means it does not work, and light knows that and says it. The 3 they have certified with Telus. Thats why i dont have much faith the Kompakt will work. Ill know in a few weeks though haha
I hear ya after my issues with the Pure, deep down a part of me is afraid too lol
I donāt know if this helps because I do not understand much about the topic, but my LP2 works on US mobile, but would not work on mint mobile or pure talk.
No luck with Verizon here, which would have been great information a month ago.
Anyone know what carriers play nice? Iām furious at both Verizon and Mudita right now, but would still like to be able to help other users who can use it.
T-Mobile USA (specifically for me, Mint Mobile, which was an MVNO but got bought by TMUS last year) plays well with my āGlobal-optimizedā Kompakt. I have had my Kompakt since May 5th. The sideloaded app āLTE Discoveryā always tells me, every time that I check it, that ā at least where I live ā my Kompakt is on 4G/LTE Band 12.
QUESTION:
- Did you get āNorth America-optimizedā Kompakts?
IF SO, THEN READ THIS:
Below with underlining are those bands by the three primary USA carriers that match the 4G/LTE bands supported by the āNorth America-optimizedā Kompakt (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 26, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 71).
- AT&T: 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, 29, 30, 66
- T-Mobile USA: 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 25, 26, 41, 46, 48, 66, 71
- Verizon Wireless: 2, 4, 5, 13, 46, 48, 66
Thanks much!
I did grab the NA optimized, and I really love them other than the fact that I canāt currently use them as phones lol
I know T-mobile used to be awful in this area coverage-wise, but hopefully theyāve expanded and itās not too hard to move a family plan from Verizon. Otherwise I have to do a return, and that sounds like a lot of work haha.
Not to be a bother, but did you have to any sort of special process to get your phone working via T-mobile? Just making sure I donāt miss anything
@jim_s: I have been following the launch of the privacy-oriented but definitely-not-minimalist BraX3 cellphone. One thing that Rob Braxman has said repeatedly is that the BraX3 is NOT for Verizon Wireless (VZW) customers. I do not recall the reason, but I found confirmation here:
So,
- I was surprised but impressed when I saw on the Mudita Forum the claims that the Mudita Kompakt was compatible with and had been tested on VZW.
- Your and othersā trouble with getting the Kompakt set up on VZW has not surprised me.
By the way, Rob Braxman is so adamant about the BraX3 not working on VZW that he promotes to his privacy-oriented customers in BraX3ās place several refurbished Google Pixel models that his company has deGoogled (earlier with CalyxOS, and now with iodeOS). Rob does this with confidence because Pixels always work on VZW.
Iām here to say that I have had no luck with Verizon as well
I am using Ting (MVNO that can use T-Mobile or Verizon). Been trying all afternoon to get Verizon to say that theyāll activate the IMEI⦠They will not. If anyone figures out how to magically do that, I would love to hear how.
As for Mudita, I think the company needs to go through the correct back-scratching, secret handshake, or whatever else to get Verizon to say the phone is koshure.
@urszula , any chance that is ever going to happen?
I put in a support ticket to this effect as well, of course.
Glad to know Iām not the only one. Really donāt want to have to reactivate my eSIM device but donāt want to go more than a day without being able to call/text :-/
Yeah, I just saw this thread and realized I didnāt need to start a new one, so sorry about that. Consider me one of the unfortunate and displeased Verizon customers. Spent the majority of my day trying to get it to work. Brutal. Lots of waiting to hit a wall.
A few ideas: I just switched off of a family plan to US Mobile so that I had the flexibility to use any of the three networks. When I went and got the transfer pin on Verizonās portal, they offered me $20 off per line. If youāre the only one that is going to use the Kompakt and they give you that offer, you could theoretically just switch your line out and that will cover the cost of having one less line on the plan (usually a $10 increase per line). Alternatively, you could switch everyone over to US Mobile - their āWarpā plan is on Verizonās network and āLight Speedā T-Mobile. You can mix and match for whichever lines you want on any of the plans.
So this morning to activate my Kompakt I switched my plan with US Mobile to Light Speed for my iPhone because when I tried to activate on Warp I got an error message saying Verizon didnāt recognize the IMEI. Didnāt even try āDark Starā (AT&T) because I read they also are sticky on whitelisting phones.
Then, I activated the Kompakt on that line. It was quite seamless and when I had a question for Customer Service I got an instant answer via their chat. Happy with coverage so far and hotspot is working well. Obviously YMMV depending on your specific geographic location.
I have Visible, which is part of Verizon. I got a physical Sim for my current phone. When that came, I activated it for my current phone and made sure it was working fine. Then switched the pSIM over to my Kompakt and its doing fine so far.
I have AT&T. Moving the SIM card from iPhone to Kompakt seemed to work, but I did get a text from AT&T saying it wasnāt compatible. I did test it for voice and text and it worked fine.
I will be switching over to US Mobile, they offer AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon service. It costs $2 to switch networks, and you can do it as much as you like. You can test and use whatever network works best. They also offer very low cost pay as you go plans, if one simply wants to try out the other networks.
I already intend to use AT&T unless it for some reason doesnāt work, as they have the best coverage in my area, itās nice to know that I can switch in case there is a compatibility issue.
Iām not able to do group texts right now, just one to one. I wonāt be side loading anything and just use the iPhone for group texts which arenāt usually urgent. Iāve told friends and family to text/call the MK if urgent. Otherwise, Iāll see their texts later.
I bought a global kompakt from eBay and was not able to get the device to work with a T-Mobile sim card. I added T-Mobiles APN and no luck. Iām not sure if the seller sold me a locked kompakt or if something is wrong with my sim. Sad times. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I live in the US.
I am on VZW and just recently received my NA-optimized MK. Activating the phone was as easy as taking the SIM card from my old phone and popping it into my MK. It works great - enjoying it immensely.
