Updates for kompakt, when?

Hey all! Sorry if this topic has been posted already. Just wanted to put out a feeler and see when we can expect to see some updates come to the kompakt? I don’t know what your team size is like, but I’m a bit surprised that the frequency of updates is not higher. It does not seem like we’re dealing with a very agile group here. For reference, I work in the IT industry so I’m familiar with how difficult development is, and I want to stress that I’m appreciative of your efforts and I’m not trying to stir the pot. But with a handful of day one issues that are pretty serious (text threads not showing due to blocked numbers, bluetooth devices not manageable past first connection, poor keyboard performance, group messages, etc.) you’d think there would be an update to address at least some of these by now. We keep getting the “our team is working on this for a future update!” message without any real roadmap or timeline. I may be the only one frustrated by this so call me out if I’m off base here. Luckily there are a number of side-loading / jank fixes that can be done to address these for now.

Oh and also, OpenStreetMaps kinda sucks, I know it’s not your product so I can’t hold that against you. But it’s wild to me that I can put in an address and find it, I can see where I am on the map, but I can’t actually get directions from point A to point B??? Maybe I’m using it wrong, idk.

ah that’s my bad, I should have searched. Looks like they address the majority of my questions here. Thank you.

And I do wanna say for the record, I have been loving my kompakt. After installing the keyboard that @Jose_Briones suggested the phone has been amazing. Just wanted to make sure there was a plan and that the community was apprised of it!

I do agree though. From a SW perspective more smaller updates makes more sense than waiting for larger ones.

@jmash I’m glad you were able to read through all the planned updates.
We also have an article on our blog with a general roadmap.
The general idea is to release updates at least once per quarter.

@urszula do you know when the update will roll out?
1/3 of the July has gone and still no “July” update

Technically 31 of July is still July :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course… but I would love to know - update in 5 days, or in 20 days… The anticipation is killing me :face_with_peeking_eye:

I second this!

That’s right! But we won’t make you wait that long LOL. It’s coming soon  I will ask our team when they will be ready.

I would like to suggest, for future updates, replacing the phrase “in July” to “by August” if it will be closer to the end of the estimated month. When it was announced that NA Kompakts would begin shipping in May, I think a lot of people were feeling very antsy throughout May as we finally began receiving the phones in late May. I received mine on May 30th. I just think this would help with positive rapport with customers.

@wks91 Thank you for the feedback- I will pass it on to the team.

Technically they’d still have a day and a half for it to be 1/3 haha
I check the updater almost every day and feel dissapointed when I see “Current version: 24 apr 2025” :frowning: I’m probably too impatient.

+1. Some of the basic issues (like fixing the fingerprint reader, bluetooth connections) would ideally be quickly released in smaller updates, rather than waiting for an entire quarter for all updates to come at once. Hope the team will consider releasing more timely minor releases going forward.
