Trying to get MMS to work on Mudita Kompakt (Google Fi)

Hello! I realize my issue may be right in the title (Google Fi) haha. I activated my physical Fi sim on my old phone (Samsung Galaxy A26). SMS texts and calls work on the Mudita but not mms. I’ve tried a lot of different advice I’ve found including trying to add a new Fi APN (the current APN says T-Mobile which I know Fi uses.) I’ve ensured all of my other settings are correct to what I’ve seen in the forums, but would be happy to upload pictures of my settings if I am allowed to. I also contacted Fi and they were no help as suspected (understandable.) Essentially they said I need to have the Fi app on the Mudita in order to connect, but I’ve read someone saying they had no problem using a Fi physical sim.

I am just looking for advice on if there is anything I may have missed and can try in order to get mms to work. If not, then I think I just need to switch carriers. I’m thinking T-Mobile but would take other suggestions if you have them!

I know a workaround would be rooting the phone and installing microg, but for me that defeats the simplicity that I’m looking for with this phone.

Thanks for reading! Thanks for having this forum, Mudita!:sparkles:

Make sure your APN settings are set correctly. AND make sure you have enabled MMS in your settings. There are two places:

Thanks Urszula! On the second images it looks like you have Mobile data and MMS messages toggled off, and just Roaming toggled on. Those are the settings I should be using?

@hellorobinmagnet I had mobile data off- because I was using wifi. You should toggle all MMS messages ON

Hi Urszula,

One other note is that when I toggle on the Mobile Data setting, the MMS messages setting hides. So when Mobile Data is on I only see that option and the Roaming option (which I have on.) Just wanted to make sure I should only be seeing the 2 options available at once. Thanks!

I was unable to get Fi working for me despite quite a bit of tinkering. Some times texting worked fine, other times I’d miss some. Calls to me didn’t go through either. Honestly, once I got over the fear of transferring my number and shutting down Fi, it was all good. I’m using a physical sim through Tello with no problems so far. The connection seems better than Fi even and it’s significantly cheaper.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info! Yea I had the same fear of switching services hahaa, but I got over it and ordered a Mint Mobile sim. Hoping that will do the trick!
