Absolutely loving so far the new update that was released today! An idea I believe I’ve seen floating around is to have a customizable Lock Screen. I know it went from the Mudita logo to a blank screen—asides for the unlock icon. But I think it’d be a really nice touch in the next update to have something we could add in the center of the screen…like a little animal, a space invader (from the game) or even a photo! In my opinion, it would nice to have just a little touch of personality and customization to our lock screens. ![]()
I would also be happier if the little lock icon on the side could also be turned off. The off-centeredness of it and it always sitting there I find kind of displeasing haha.
I wish so much to be able to customize the lock screen with the image of our choice. That would look really sick as it would be always displayed and on an e-ink you can have pretty cool background !
Come on Mudita please make it happen, so at least it can be an option to choose, either the user keeps the usual lockscreen or he can customize it !
i do not have the update installed yet (waiting for the release) but I find it a little bit baffling that the Logo got disabled but not the lock? I would have it the other way around but I would also really love to set a personal image as a Lock Screen. That would be really cool for an e-ink-display ![]()
I’m downloading the update now and am of the same mind. I like the Mudita lotus flower logo. Just give me the option to remove the lock icon and the text.
Upgrade: Let me choose a lock screen image!
@camille agree 100%! It does make me irrationally upset to see that off-centered lock on the screen. Like, we know how to unlock the phone and don’t really need to be reminded what to do. I will say, a blank screen might look a bit strange—looking like it’s out of battery, though of course Mudita displays that differently. But I’d be willing to try a blank screen!
Imo just a little choosable character or image would look so badass. Something simple. I wanna pull my phone out and see something that brings me joy on the Lock Screen. Doesn’t need to be much! A photo or image would go a long way in making our phones feel a little more unique. Also I bet it would intrigue onlookers. Again, Mudita team, something simple
I also agree above even the logo that used to be there would be a welcomed choice! But please for the love of all that is good, give us the option to remove the lock icon! Pretty please ![]()
Btw welcome to the forum, Camille!
I know, I know you can’t make it right for everyone ;-), but I would prefer to have more options for the lockscreen as well now that the logo is gone. Actually I love the logo, but would prefer just the logo on the lockscreen without the ‘Mudita Kompakt’ text added below.
So my suggestion for the lockscreen options are as following:
- Lock screen like Mudita OS K 1.1.1
- Lock screen like Mudita OS K 1.2
- Lock screen with photo as background
- Lock screen with custom image uploaded via Mudita Center
The latter two would be great in one of the future updates. I think of my tolino e-ink reader which offers this very functionality ![]()
You just reminded me of my Tolino, its lock screen never gets old, it always makes me smile.
As for the lock screen image, I think it’d be sufficient enough if let’s say there are 6-8 predefined images by Mudita which we can choose from. Such as the back of the meditation cards.
All great suggestions! Would love to hear what the developers think about these customizations.
Our team is aware of this request. Here’s also something to think about though (which I find quite interesting) for every individual who has requested to have the lock icon removed, we probably have an individual who has contacted us with questions about how to “unlock” the phone (when they first get the device) because they felt that the side button was not intuitive enough.
So, I guess it’s about preference. However, having the option to display or NOT display the lock has been passed on to the team.
@urszula I feel like that issue can be solved with simply having an option to turn it off in the settings. That way, once someone turns it off, it shows that they’re aware of it and don’t need it anymore
I think the little lock is no issue. It’s not bothering me. I am really glad that the over-sized branding is now finally gone.
But it’s still a bit disappointing that we can’t have any customization for the lock screen. Are there issues with the energy consumption if we would have something as dynamic as a watchface (analog or digital) which would change every minute?
That’s going to happen in a future update. I for one, am sad to let the lock screen go. I liked the Lotus flower (Mudita Logo) & seeing the name of the phone ![]()
Probably it’s an emotional thing, that’s why it’s different for everyone. ![]()
But by chance, do you know, if there’s an issue with “dynamic content” on the lockscreen, regarding energy consumption?
Same for me. Now the lockscreen looks way too empty. I would’ve preferred just the Mudita lotus flower icon, but without the text underneath it.
@felensis My team is saying that they are working on custom lock screen options, so we should be able to have this soon. I will ask if it will be in the next update.
It is interesting to see how much this topic bothers people (me included). It doesn’t bring any improvement of the actual functionality of the phone, as let’s say a better fingerprint sensor, but most of us want to be able to customise the locked screen, myself included.
I have shared in other topics - I would love something simple - just to be able to upload/choose a picture of my initials.
That makes sense but I do feel like any person would only ever need to see this lock icon once. After that they’d already know how to unlock it. I think having it visible initially with a setting where you can turn it off would be very nice.
Thanks for your response though! Overall I am LOVING this phone truly.
Haha. I would LOVE if the lock screen could display a QR code with some little chibbi characters around it or something. Function + style.
You mean phone contact QR code? Sounds like an interesting use case.
