First off, thanks for those quality of life improvements. I really appreciate the battery optimization and the removal of the logo on the lock screen. Sideloading APK’s is seemless now, and I like not having to swipe up anymore to get into the phone.
I was hoping maybe future updates might include:
Ringtone customization
A faster keyboard. I know this update came with some keyboard improvements, but for some reason third-party keyboards are still faster and more accurate. It might also help to adjust the position or resize the keys.
Maybe the ability to re-arrange apps. I use Signal as my main messaging app so i always have to skip over the MMS icon to get there. That, or maybe an official Mudita text-based launcher. I know someone on the forum here made one which shows there is high demand for it.
What ongoing Bluetooth issue are you referring to? Curious because it seems to have improved as far reconnecting to Bluetooth devices it has paired with previously—that was my experienced issue.
I’d like to add few cents here. I like the update overall despite possibly a bit more ghosting. The keyboard seems improved. No logo on the locklock screen is ok, I didn’t have strong opinion here; the flower alone was fine for me.
What I’d like to bring up besides Bluetooth and calendar sync or recurring events(!):
while typing in Polish with Polish keyboard, do we really need/want to have all possible special characters under keys such as ‘a’ or ‘o’?
double-space auto period,
more than three word completion suggestions (scroll right?)
emergency setup info in Polish says about actions “poniżej” instead of “powyżej”,
when I got my fingerprint back (<3), I see the behavior is: few wrong unlock attempts - button press changes the screen and let’s retry, after another couple fails it locks the sensor out, but I didn’t get a message on the screen or pinpad that the fingerprint is locked. Not a big deal to me, easy to figure that out. Besides, being able to set button press for sensor triggering could help with unintentional unlocks while putting phone in a pocket;
ability to kill apps faster than from Settings;
-key gesture to toggle frontlight between off and last non-zero intensity;
and things that didn’t make it to this release, such as battery % on top, or text input auto-correct (zal = założenie, żal, zależy).
I’m still having that issue actually; there’s no way to connect to previously connected devices. I had to install a third party app just to reconnect to my headphones, and I installed that third party app after I noticed it still wasn’t fixed with the 1.2.0 update.
Hey @urszula I wanted to ask if your team is planning to add the battery percentage on screen (next to the battery )? I really like the new features and information (cycle count and battery life) that have been added with this update, but really miss not being able to see exactly how much power I have left at a glance.
@astratev I asked our team about this & this was their response:
While your request for a battery percentage display on-screen is understandable, we currently have no plans to implement this feature. Our phone’s design philosophy prioritizes a minimalist user experience, and adding a persistent percentage display goes against that core principle.
@urszula it’s your phone and it boils down to your choice, but keep in mind - having to click trough 3-4 menus just to be able to see how much power you have left in your device isn’t really minimalistic… it’s the total oposite.
But… thanks for the response.
@astratev All I can do is pass on the info. We understand that our decisions may not make everyone happy (as you see from the comments about the lock screen).
I agree with the team on this. Plus you can get a ball-park estimate of the percentage simply by looking at how many bars are left out of 6. (3 left is around 50%)
And it’s not like you need to worry and run for a charger, even when it gets to the point that the red led lights up on low battery I still have hours to do something about it.
There’s zero reason for me to know exactly how much battery is left. That’s kind of the point I think
There is zero reason for me to have Voice mail or group SMS but a lot of people want that. Point being it’s frustrating that the phone doesn’t provide basic functions.
I’ve got my Kompakt seven days ago and still have 54% (!) battery capacity left. I’m totally with the Mudita team to leave the battery percentage out of sight for peace of mind since the phone runs just that long without recharge. I would understand the request if we had to charge the Kompakt on a daily basis like a smartphone. On the other side options probably won’t hurt.
If you have to use the hotspot for some time during the day, you might need to charge the phone every day or every other day.
People use their phone differently; I for one can’t use it as an only daily driver and still require a second device in combination.
With that in mind, I would love to have the ability to see my battery percentage with a single glance. It’s not like it’s an addictive feature like social media, so I see no point in excuses like “it’s not part of our philosophy”…
The best route is giving us the option to display it and people can decide.
Fair enough and as I said: More options usually are a good thing, but at least in my case the battery percentage is something I always deactivate because it stresses me out. Therefore I appreciate it that the Kompakt doesn’t show it by default (or in general like it currently is).
