New Mudita Kompakt user, making the switch from an Iphone14, I’m using Tmobile, and I got an new SIM card , and transfered my old number to the current SIM card. Unfortunately I’m not able to receive all my text messages, I have waited 24 hours hoping that perhaps maybe it takes some time, and I cannot understand why some messages come through, and others do not.
I’m not sure what to do, has anyone else experienced this? I have imessages turned off on my old phone, but I’m not sure what else I can do…it’s quite frustrating.
Have you tried this?
Hi, I have tried it, and I’m not sure if it takes some time, but I do receive some texts, I’m just not sure if I’m receiving all my text. I suppose time will tell.
I am not receiving texts from my boyfriend’s android phone when he has RCS messaging turned on.
I have used both iphones and android phones in the past, so I deregistered my phone number from both imessage and Google’s RCS servers.
I have not yet tested whether I can receive sms from iphones, but I expect whenever someone with an android phone tries to text me, I will have to:
- miss the text
- wait for them to reach me in another fashion
- direct them on how to turn off RCS in their messages to me
- repeat with the next person.
I am hoping this is not the case with iphone texts as well.
Ugh. What a pain. I do get text messages from people using RCS, so I do not know how to advise you. I researched this a few weeks ago for someone else’s post, and I did so again today. Here’s the summary:
- If you receive an RCS message but your device is not set up for RCS, it will still be delivered as an SMS.
^ Apparently, this is NOT working for you, even though it works for me on my Kompakt.
Hi,
I am not sure if you said you are coming from an iPhone to the MK or a android. You have to register from RCS on Android, similar to deregistering from the Apple iMessage. If you move your SIM, your old android phone doesn’t always give you the ability to disable RCS, but you can go to this link: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat
I’m on T-mobile and having the exact same issues. I cannot receive all the text messages, particularly seems to be having trouble from certain but not all iPhone users. Please keep me updated if you find out what it is!
I deregistered my number from imessages and even took the phone into t-mobile, who told me everything is “working on their end”.
It’s really good to hear you’re getting the converted messages. I will update here if I figure something out or if it somehow fixes itself. I’ve only had the phone a couple days.
by the way, I am on Mint mobile.
I am having similar difficulties. I’m a former iPhone user with T-Mobile who had iMessages and RCS enabled.
I think some iPhones were (only occasionally) trying to reach me via, while Androids were sending me only RCS messages. I was occasionally missing messages from iPhone users and missing almost all messages sent from Android users.
I had originally only disabled iMessage. I went ahead and just disabled RCS. Let’s hope it fixes the issue for me.
Ok, so I seem to be getting all the texts I wasn’t before, at least to my knowledge. I basically made sure that everything on my old iphone was turned (imessages, facetime, and any other connection to my computer that involved my iphone).
What was interesting was when I initially called TMobile, they assumed that I had purchased another iphone, and they were telling me on their end they the new sim I had purchased was placed in an iphone. I think it took some time for the system to reset. The help at Tmobile also told me they reset my connection to their towers, which I’m not exactly sure what that means, but long story short I seem to be getting all my messages.
I am however not getting notified every time that I received a new message, and particularily during sideloaded apps like whatsapp do not give me any indication that I have recieved a message, which isn’t a huge problem, I just need to make sure I check the app occasionally.
I had an iPhone with RCS, then I switched to an older iPhone that did not have RCS, and could not get messages from a friend for several months, they were going into the RCS void. I tried several things, I was switching my sim from phone to phone, but it seems if you stop using RCS, messages will be lost with those you used it with, for 3 or 4 months. You can release your number from iMessage, but I could not find a way to release your number from RCS.
I had this exact same issue: double checked with apple through their customer service that I was fully deregistered and I took both my iPhone and kompakt to t-mobile to troubleshoot why I was not receiving messages from apple devices. T-mobile at the time claimed that everything was “going through on their end”. I just switched to visible via physical sim today, and now every message is coming through just fine. Maybe it’s just a t-mobile issue?
I eventually had to have my wife just disable RCS on her phone. I was getting texts from my dad while he had RCS on, but texts from my wife were spotty (some would go through, some wouldn’t). Still testing to make sure that was the issue.
TL;DR I think my SMS is fixed, but just to update: I texted my friend happy birthday today, and I received a response from their iphone with no delays. My sister was able to text me from her android phone with no issues, and my boyfriend said the RCS option has disappeared from my chat’s settings completely. So I believe I am officially unhooked from Google’s RCS servers and iMessage. I think it just needed a day or two to iron out. If anybody out there is still missing texts, keep fighting!
@magnoliacircus YAY! Great to hear!
I have no trouble with T-Mobile USA (TMUS), but I moved my TMUS SIM from my Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid to my Kompakt, and I never had any Apple “i” products.
@kirkmahoneyphd Sometimes, I wonder if this is intentional on Apples part? I have to be honest, just like you, I have never owned any apple products, and when I’ve interacted with them, I, personally did not have a good experience. I am wondering why sometimes things work & sometimes not. Is it intentional?
My Apple-owning experience precedes the “i” world. I had a Power Macintosh 8100. One of my uses for it was to develop software for Macintosh PowerBooks.
@kirkmahoneyphd You & me both…last time I used an Apple product it was something like this:
I just spoke to a friend and found out I’ve been missing many texts from him. The strange thing is Ive received some from him before from the same number. Unfortunately this will make my Mudita Kompakt unusable if it continues and I’ll be forced to return to my old phone.
Ive done the whole deregister thing through google. My carrier is Verizon. Any idea what may be happening?
