Hello I experience a similar issue:
I had a 256 GB SD Card and a mobile SIM Card working.
I removed only the SIM Card while powered of.
Than I reinserted the SIM Card while powered of.
The SD Card was still working.

I connected the phone to a Windows 7 PC via USB.
Via File Explorer I copied files from the SD Card to the Windows 7 PC.
All went well, but right now the SD Card suddenly stopped working.

The SD Card still works when I put it into a SD Card reader on my Windows 10 PC.
I did a backup from the SD Card contents, by copying all files via Windows File Explorer.

It seems to me that the SD Card somehow got corrupted for the Android OS.
I had similar experiences with USB Sticks first working in Android, but then stopped working because I also used them on Windows OS.
Maybe that is something that can be fixed.

Thanks Mudita Team anyway for the great product.
I really like it.

Yup reformatting did the trick.

Now a fresh Android structure was created automatically by the Android OS.

All hints guide me to the following: The filesystem on the SD Card got corrupted.
Maybe we need a safe removal feature on the Kompakt when the Kompakt is connected via USB to another device.

What you can do as a general prevention of filesystem corruption is to shut down the PC and the phone before removing/unplugging the USB cable.
Also if it works use the: “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media” feature on i.e. Windows.

__
Causes of a Corrupted SD Card on Android
From How to Fix a Corrupted SD Card on Android Without a Computer
“SD and MicroSD cards can sometimes trigger a corruption error message when they’ve been used on multiple types of devices or have been physically removed from a device while a file was being accessed or transferred.”
__

And at a last resort a Kompakt App for repairing the filesystem would be helpful. Something like TestDisk: Partition Recovery and File Undelete
This blog seems to have the detail answers for repairing the SD Card with fsck: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/38745/check-and-fix-sd-card-errors-within-android-itself
__

If you are experienced with the shell, open the shell as admin:

Windows → chkdsk /f [drive-letter]:

Linux → fsck -y [device-path]

MacOS →
sudo diskutil list
sudo fsck [device-path]
optionally if invalid b-tree node size message → sudo fsck_hfs -r -d [device-path]

I’m glad that you got it worked out.

One day the SD card was working and the next day, it wasn’t. I wonder if it was due to removing the SIM tray without powering down the MK. (I was using my MK to activate another SIM.)

Either way, following this sledgehammer approach of reformatting the SD card worked. Another day, another lesson learned.

(The irony is that compared to my previous iPhone, I’m now spending more time babying my phone than ever.)

I have this problem at irregular intervals. Suddenly, the SD card is no longer recognized, or the used memory is suddenly displayed as 0 GB. When I insert the card into my laptop, it is recognized without any problems. The only thing that helps is to reformat the card, and then the Kompakt recognizes it again. This is quite annoying because I then have to copy or download music, podcasts, etc. onto it again. And no, it’s not the file format, and I’ve already tried new SD cards. It happens every now and then.

I can report that I met exactly the same behavior. It’s a bit disappointing, because my car can’t connect to snowsky mini but can to Kompakt

I’ve reached out to the team about this again. I think previously there was some thought that third-party apps might have something to do with this.

The problem persists even when no third-party apps are installed. I have already tested this.

@marko Our team would like to know if you connect the SD card to your computer and does the computer recognize the card normally? And please check how the card behaves on the computer:

On MacOS please enter this in the terminal window:
diskutil list and ENTER
and it will show you the list of drives for the SD card.

FOR WINDOWS

  1. open terminal cmd as an administrator
  2. type diskpart press ENTER
  3. type list disk

This will show us what the SD card looks like (Please take a screenshot of everything & forward it to us).

I use Linux on my PC and the SD card is recognized normally there. As I said, I tested several SD cards. The first one, which was from my old Android smartphone and was formatted there, worked perfectly in the Kompakt until one day it was no longer recognized. It continues to be recognized normally on the PC. I then reformatted it in eXfat format and it worked again in the Kompakt. But then at some point it stopped working again. Then the same thing happened with a new SD card. It always works for a while and then at some point the SD card is no longer recognized or is displayed as empty.

I’ve been using the SanDisk Extreme Plus 1TB SD card since I got the MK, and thankfully have not encountered this corruption issue. The phone is locked on standby when I pop off the SD card and same when I pop it back in. I’ve done this multiple times to transfer large amounts of music and audiobooks. I let the MK format the card (does it do this?) when I bought the SD card but I am not sure if that matters. I will report if or when I encounter this issue.

I’ve checked on my Fedora and the sd card from Mudita also is recognized, mounts properly, but for some reason I’ve got Input/output error (os error 5)] on some files.

@urszula to chime in here, yes, the SD card is treated normally in macOS Disk Utility and is mounted file. File transfers are fine. In short, it’s fine in every way.
