In my case, the screen times out soon after I started the call, even if the timeout is set to 1 minute or more. It’s really annoying. The only way to wake up the screen again is by moving your finger close to it. However, the problem with this is that you can’t see what you are going to type, while the screen is still off. Sometimes I wonder if Mudita ever tested the Kompakt before releasing it
My Question really ,is it possible to have power ends call enabled but with the exception of cancelling a screen timeout , I guess its not, its either one of the other?
I have this issue too its so annoying because when I am trying to enable speakerphone either after placing a call or accepting a call I have to let the screen self turn off and then back on again. It needs to stay on if the phone isnt near my face.
For me it even turns off while the phone is on my ear. If I need the dialpad, or if I want to end the call, I always have to move my finger close to the screen to make it turn on again. A phone like that is unusable. Add to that the constant spam that can’t be blocked, and it really gets to the point where the Kompakt can’t really be called a “phone”.
You can have this enabled and disabled. For me- I have it disabled because I use the side power button to wake up the screen & I use the regular call button to hang up.
If the connection is active and not minimized, bringing the Kompakt to your ear, by hand, within about 1 cm of the speaker at the top edge of the phone will automatically turn off the screen. This is INTENTIONAL so that you don’t click anything with your ear; that’s what the proximity sensor is for. Only when the call is minimized will this not work.
Ok, but when I call my provider for example, there is an automated voice that says “If you want to get information about your SIM card, press 1”, but when I want to press “1”, the screen is locked. By the time I unlocked the screen, the automated voice has proceeded to the point where I missed some words in between and then I am not sure whether the voice is still talking about option 1 or already about option 2. What a mess.
That’s where a phone with actual physical keys is much more practical, because there I can press any number without removing the phone from my ear. I don’t need to look at the screen at all. Besides, on the dumbphone the screen won’t even be locked during a call. This is how it should be.
@YYZ I just tried this by calling my doctor’s office. (they also have this press 1 for registration, 2 for physiotherapy etc. )
I have my screen timeout set for 15sec. The minute I pull my phone away from my ear, the screen unlocks (even when I don’t press the side button). Then I can press the dialer icon & choose my number option. The behavior of my KOMPAKT is the same as my partner’s Samsung.
I do have this feature OFF & I always use the hang up phone icon on the screen.
IF they ever fix it, it will probably take 60 to 90 months. So after civilization has long been wiped out by the orange monster, who will still care for the Kompakt ?
