Recommend Charger

Is there a recommended charger and or wireless charger for the mudita Kompakt?

Thanks!

@seasidetrumpet a standard USB-C brick will work fine. I, personally, have one of these FAST chargers & I really like it cuz it charges my Mudita Kompakt in lightning speed.

Hey @urszula which fast charger do you have if you don’t mind me asking?

Speaking of charges, for wireless charging does anyone know if a magsafe compatible charger might work? i have a couple of those from my iphone 13 mini and was hoping it would be fine to just put it on top of them to charge.

Seem to remember reading somewhere that MagSafe is a proprietary charging mechanism and is not compatible with other charging types (but I may be wrong!).

I want to try wireless charging with the Kompakt. I read from the specs the phone does support it but none of my adapters work. Are there any specifics for wireless chargers?

Yup, it looks like there’s a wireless charging coil in the device, based on the FCC approval pics.
I should be getting the Kompakt either today or tomorrow, so I’ll test it with my Qi wireless chargers and report back :slightly_smiling_face:

@csllr The position of wireless charging antenna is not directly in the middle, but a little lower.
Also, make sure your case is not on the phone.

the charging coil has me wondering how easy it is to remove to get to the battery, the design (coil excluded) looks like the battery should be relatively easy to replace except it probably being glued in. the coil on the other hand…

not that the batter needs to be worried about at least until a few years down the road

Can confirm wireless charging works for me with a random Qi carger.

Cool, it’s working now! In fact, it only works when the lower part of the phone is in the exact position where the charging point is. This works on a flat, circular pad but not on an inclined charging stand.
But, it even works with the case on, which is great!

@csllr Looks like it even works with your case  Awesome

My car charges the phone also with the built in wireless charging station (for lack of better words) and does it with the case on.

nice! great to hear it works with multiple wireless chargers. I normally put a rubber plug on my data port and try to charge wirelessly to keep the ports from gathering dust/lint

I have also used a fast charger to charge the one time I’ve needed to so far and agree it was very fast , however the spec of my fast charger is roughly the same as yours and this is higher than recommended by the manual?

I’m not great with electronics but if our chargers are 15W is this too high?

The manual says “The power delivered by the charger must be between minimum power 2.5 W required by the radio equipment, and maximum power 10 W in order to achieve the maximum charging speed. Using a different one may damage the battery.”

@rev_lou You know, I will check with our guys. I’m glad that you pointed it out

Thank you! As both our phones charged fast without any issues I suspect the Kompakt is smart enough to adjust for this, or the manual is deliberately cautious. I just charged with a 5 W charger and it felt slooooow in comparison, so hopefully we can go back to our 15 W ones :sunglasses:

@rev_lou So, I went directly to our Head of Hardware, showed him my charger & he promptly responds with:

So, I think we’re safe with the super-chargers
