Random notifications?

I received a notification at 5 am in the morning and I do NOT know where it came from.
I had no new messages or calls, nothing happened on Signal and my only other side loaded apps are Lithium and Gramophone.

This has happened before, it’s starting to get annoying really quickly.
Does anybody know what might have caused it? I’ve checked all the other apps too but I couldn’t find anything. Seems like the phone just likes to wake me up for fun at 5 am.

After sideloading NotificationLog I found there are some system/built-in apps that are sending notifications sometimes, e.g. DuraSpeed. If we don’t have a proper way to access notifications then all the built-in or system stuff should be configured to not send notifications…

But it could also have been a notification from one of your sideloaded apps, e.g. if you sideloaded Signal from their website apk it sends notifications about available updates. And then without easy access to notification settings or a proper no disturb mode it’s hard to control that. It’s not great in that regard. (And no, offline+ is not flexible enough to be a replacement for a no disturb mode or notifications control IMO)

If it’s e.g. signal updates and you want to disable this kind of notifications, here’s a workaround (and someone posted a walkthrough with pictures a few posts below)

@miiiiiiiiiiiii I’m betting it’s signal, at least for me, it’s signal.

Good to know! I installed Signal with their own APK file from their website, so I’ll check that post out and see if it helps.
If it’s one of the system notifications, I sure hope Mudita finds a way to silence them all

@brotweg Someone posted on the forum that if you install Signal APK directly for the SIGNAL website (like I did) it does update. No need to install a new apk every time there is a new update. I would love to know if this notification is the app connecting to the Server to check for updates or something like that.

I installed with an APK from their website and for me it does not update automatically, I had to hack the system settings to allow unautorized installations for Signal and then I have to click the update notificiation in the NotificationLog app I linked earlier for the update to actually install. Alternative is sideloading the updated apk from time to time as you say, or using e.g. AuroraStore

How did you hack the system? Please let me know 'cus I’d like to have a updated version of my Signal app.

It’s another hidden activity, under com.android.settings.Settings$ManageExternalSourcesActivity. After allowing Signal there, clicking a Signal update notification in NotificationLog updates Signal for me
