Question about battery and Offline+

Hi,
I have a few questions about the battery and Offline+ mode of the Mudita Phone:

1. Switching off vs. Offline+ overnight
Which uses less battery: completely switching the phone off overnight or leaving it on in Offline+ mode?
And which is better for the long-term health of the battery — switching it off every night or leaving it in Offline+?

2. Radiation in Offline+ mode
Does the phone still emit something in this mode? So to stop all radiation, do I need to completely switch it off or is it enough to leave it in Offline+ mode?

3. Switching on while in Offline+
Once I switched the phone on while it was in Offline+ mode. I got a message saying that this would use more battery and suggesting that I switch to Online mode and restart the phone. Why does this happen? What causes the higher battery consumption in this situation?

4. 80% charging limit
I have enabled the 80% charging limit to protect the battery. However, after charging, the phone still shows 100% and all battery bars. Does this mean that the battery is actually charged to 80% of its physical capacity, but this is displayed as 100%? Or is the 80% limit not working correctly?

Thanks for any clarification!

The general vibe I get from offline mode is that it’s less of a performance/efficiency thing and more of a security thing, like if you need to immediately cut off contact you have an easy way. It doesn’t seem to be a feature intended for daily use or for improving battery usage. You’re probably best just shutting it off, though really if no apps are running it’s such a light phone leaving it on, even unlocked, is likely going to barely effect the battery.

As for the charging limit, something must be wrong with your unit, mine always stops at 80% when I have the limit on.

I can answer the first two questions. I’m still waiting for the team to get back to me on the other two.

  1. Switching off vs. Offline+ overnight

Turning the device off completely consumes less energy because even when the phone is in OFFLINE+ mode, the screen is still on, the time will change (every minute), when the date changes from one day to the next, that will also change on the screen. All those things consume energy. So, if you want to save the most battery, then, yes turning off the phone is better than just turning on the OFFLINE+ mode.

  1. Radiation in Offline+ mode
It’s important to know that anything that uses, generates, or transmits electricity produces Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs).

To understand why, it helps to look at the two separate components of an EMF:

  • Electric fields are created by voltage (the pressure pushing the electricity). Even if a device is turned off, as long as it is plugged into a live outlet, an electric field is present.
  • Magnetic fields are created by electrical current (the actual flow of electricity). When a device is turned on and drawing power, a magnetic field is generated.

So, if the phone is just in OFFLINE+, but the phone is still ON and then it does emit some frequencies, but at a very low level because internal hardware is still accessing the battery. Those are called Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) EMFs

Our team responded about the 80% charging & they said that the ~80% is approximate.

It could be that your phone was around 81% - so battery icon might show all bars?

please check percentage in settings → battery instead. That should be more accurate.
