Pocket dials- no fingerprint

Hello all- I know there have been many accounts of pocket dials in the forum, most being associated to the fingerprint. I have never set up the finger print and cannot figure out how my phone is calling people in my pocket. This has happened on countless occasions at this point and I’m really upset about it, My phone has been locked in my pocket and some how is making calls! I have a pin set for screen lock and not a finger print. Help please!

I’ve had an issue where I had a pop-up say that my phone tried dialing the number “91”.
It was locked and in my pocket.

@Ecokafenio Do you have a PINCODE set up?

I also get pocket dials and pocket-jump in to apps and start audio-stuff. No fingerprint and pincode is activated.

@cricke This should be solved if you enable a PIN CODE

@urszula Sorry I wrote the last post unclear. I have a PIN-enabled but no fingerprint.

Yes I do! And the phone is locked in my pocket but somehow is making calls from my “recent calls” list in my pocket. It happened today at 6am… and once this weekend to my bosses boss at 9pm on a Saturday…… it’s not good.

OMG. Calling bosses boss at 9pm on a weekend … That’s crazy. How is that happening when the phone is locked? @urszula, please exchange your Kompakt device with us. Only your device has no issues at all.

@Ecokafenio & @ramamohan This is so odd. I ask our teamed to check into this because I’ve never experienced this & I’ve had my Kompakt since late February. It traveled with me to so many places & it’s always bouncing around in my bag or backpack, and I’ve never had anything like this happen. I mean, there’s so many steps involved.
Is the phone ULOCKING itself?

Mine was pocket dialling for a while. It would wake up in my pocket and then randomly press on the screen.

For me, it has stopped since I upgraded to version 1.2.0. I think it doesn’t even wake up in my pocket any more now.

After I updated to newer software version, I enabled finger print scanner. It’s working ok for me.

It’s still happening for me after the update…

3 Step Workaround to Accidental Emergency Call and Pocket Unlocking & Pocket Dialing

For those whom were, or are still having the emergency call issue in the pocket and unlocking phone in the pocket, dialing long strands of numbers, opening apps you do not mean to open…I feel your pain. For the first two months this was very aggravating to me.
Until the software update comes out with a fix for this, I have done the following 3 step procedure and had no further issues with any Accidental Emergency Call, Pocket Unlocking, pocket dialing.
Steps:

  1. Step 1: I followed other advice on the forum and changed my emergency number to a non-emergency number that simply won’t dial if the emergency number is selected on the screen. I used 0, as in the USA on T Mobile this wont dial out if you hit the emergency call. If 0 dials where you are to an entity, find a one-digit number that does not and change your emergency number to that number. *Only do this if you are willing to manually dial an emergency number if you have an emergency.

  2. Step 2: Next step to set the unlock on your phone will make using the phone somewhat aggravating, yet better than the major aggravation of an accidental unlock in the pocket which results dialing long strands of numbers, and or opening apps you don’t mean to open. Do not use the fingerprint unlock, change your phone to a 6 digit lock you can do quickly such as 1, 2,3,4,5,6. Likelihood you will type 6 consecutive numbers in your pocket in order is unlikely.

  3. Step 3: Change you phone to lock in 15 seconds. This is the frustrating as you have to enter the 6 digits every time it locks, which can seem like 5 seconds sometimes instead of 15 seconds. Also remember if your phone isn’t already locked, you might have to wait 15 seconds to make sure it is locked before putting it in your pocket.
I find the above the temporary work around I must take for now to ensure I have not had any further Accidental Emergency Call, Pocket Unlocking, pocket dialing. For me the weak areas of the Mudita Kompakt are outweighed by the strengths it has, and I am willing to bend a little for work arounds until the software updates correct the weak areas in the software.

After three weeks with the Kompakt as my daily driver I hadn’t a single “pocket dial” or “pocket unlock”. At this point I’m wondering if some devices might have a faulty fingerprint sensor.

I haven’t had it either but I deliberately put Kompakt in my pocket with display facing outwards, and I pay attention to not touch the sensor with my unlocking finger while putting it in. I’m also ordering a custom belt pouch (molle) for my MK as my EDC kidney bag can’t fit more stuff.

I’ve been getting pocket dialling also. Interestingly, it seems to like to dial the last person I have sent a SMS message to! I am having a friend 3D print a new case for me to try and work around this, one with a cover over the screen.

This obviously seems to be an issue with some users here, but keep in mind that feedback forums tend to hold mostly feedback from those users with issues, but not the vast majority without them. I’m using my Kompakt for exactly four weeks now and never had this issue.
