One week with the mudita kompakt as a software developer

@madebypixel02 , if you are still hanging around the forum the Memories app on the MK, did you have to do anything special to get logged in? i have downloaded from fdroid, but at the Memories login screen, after inputting my server name, click login and nothing happens. Just curious if similar happened to you?

Hi, yes, still.here. My guess is you do not have a custom browser with webview support installed. Webview allows third party apps to open links without actually opening a browser window, which is what many apps use (including Memories). I’d suggest you try the Startpage app, which is one app that worked for me.

If there is no dedicated browser installed, and no system-level handling for general links, WebView alone cannot just “open links” from anywhere like SMS messages. Hello @madebypixel02 !! Thanks for the tip. I built a NC instance based on your mentioning it above. I have installed a few additional apps with no issue until I decided to try Memories. I couldn’ t locate Startpage on fdroid so I haven’t installed it yet, but it is helpful to know the reason for my issue. Much appreciated!!

Hello @es1996 , the Startpage app is actually not published on FDroid, I’d suggest installing a Chromium based browser whichis on F-Droid, though I don’t know one. Perhaps you could sideload Startpage and delete it afterwards if you don’t want to use closed-source apps.

Thanks for the tip, it is really helpful . I have a question regarding the Niagra Launcher, is there a way to disable the animation ? The animation is a bit slow after returning to Home Screen after closing an app.

Tried Startpage, DuckDuckGo - same results. Made Startpage the default browser - no go. Not sure what I could be missing. Will peruse the Memories forum and let you know how I make out.

I was trying to use a USB cam as the front camera for banking apps, but can’t seem to get it working.

Is their any settings I need to use?

From what I understand it is highly NOT recommended to use banking apps on a phone like the mudita kompakt. It is not safe. Mudita Kompakt can let me know if I’m wrong, but I believe that it’s not safe to use these kinds of financial sideloaded apps.

The reason that we do not recommended using banking apps on Mudita Kompakt is that there is no way to verify their security. If you’re not downloading the APK file directly from your BANK- then there is not way to verify how safe the app is. Additionally, since Kompakt does not have an app store, there is not a way that it can receive updates, if necessary.
