I have had my Mudita Kompakt since May '25. My phone was receiving photos in text messages just fine up until recently. Once I switched over to MMS (which fixed the group texting issue) I now get an error message whenever someone sends me a photo that says “File type not supported.”
I’m on T-Mobile US, and I would think it was a carrier issue, but I have been able to receive photos up until a few weeks ago when I fixed the group messaging issue. Any thoughts on why this may be? Can the Kompakt receive HEIF photos from an iphone?
Update: I actually did receive an image via text several days ago (a marketing text from a local restaurant). So I can still receive an image, it seems, I’m guessing it’s something to do with the image formatting.
I had some issues with the “File type not supported” error before, a few of those errors in December, but since 4 January (when I set my texts/group chats to MMS) almost all of the pictures sent to me have had that error message.
Since then, the times I received images appear to be the first still shot of a gif or text-based images.
Edit: @urszula it may be random. I just asked someone to send me a picture and it came through, so I’m not sure if it is a temporary or random thing. It may be due to my carrier or connection (?).
@nikkoulo Our team said that these are the supported MMS formats when sending messages: JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, WebP, HEIF, WBMP.
supported MMS/files formats when receiving: JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, WebP, HEIF, WBMP, PDF.
However, GIF images will not move- it will be a static photos.
Are you able to receive OTHER formats, other than HEIF?
I can’t confirm which file types I received (other than that they were photos), but I’ll get back with the people who tried to send them and figure out it or see if it continues to be an issue.
