Hi all,
I’ve contacted the support team about this last week (still waiting on a response, I know they are busy) but my phone came without the custom OS installed, and instead what looks like a very dated version of Android.
To put it short you don’t have a custom OS, you’re missing the custom OS
That’s probably the same AOSP like the rest of us, AOSP has that dated look. I think you might have received a development device, or the flashing of the customized OS by Mudita failed somehow and it went back to the original OS shipped from the factory.
Don’t think this can be fixed with OTA updates, so they probably will have to exchange your device.
I thought something like that must be the case. Interestingly the images are burned into the e-inkn display, so from the first moments during unboxing I figured it would need a new device.
I think it’s because the OS you have doesn’t have any eink optimization at all. It also might be in dark mode, so see if you can change it to light mode in settings.
Thanks for posting this, I’m surprised that this displays at all because it seems like it might be running with no system level eink support. Seems to indicate that the screen and driver board will “just work” with no additional support. I’m sure that it’s functionally unusable though. I hope support gets back to you soon.
@robinnx I’ve received and completed a ticket which has asked me for shipping information so I can send it back, but nothing since.
I was hoping they’d expedite this process and send me a working phone ASAP, as to be honest, the onus shouldn’t be on me when I’ve paid for a product and not received it. I don’t think the process should be identical to a repair or warranty on a functioning device, as one has effectively never been delivered.
Yesterday I’ve recieve precisely the same. It really has nothing similar to the product as presented but with an old android phone. The apps installed are the following:
Calendar (google’s?)
Camera
Clock
Contacts
DebugLoggerUI
Files (on a black background)
FM Radio
Gallery
Messaging
NXP Device Test Application
OpenEUICC
Phone
SBL MTK (on a black background)
Search
Settings (on a black background)
Sim Toolkit
WebView Browser Tester
Is it possible to return this one and recieve a new one?
@filipe I am so sorry that this happened to you. Please contact our customer service at SUPPORT@Mudita.com and they will switch out this phone for you.
Urszula Today between 3 and 6 they will pick up my phone. I told Robert in the email yesterday that if possible, when you receive my phone, I would like to exchange it for the white one since I like it a bit more, but he didn’t reply. Would that be possible? Thank you.
