NA Transferring service from Verizon to Kompakt

I am in the process of trying to switch an eSIM on an iPhone to the Kompakt. I have Verizon as a carrier and have hit hurdles every step thus far. The agents I have spoke to say the IMEI is not recognised and not supported by Verizon. I asked for the activation QR code or manual code directly and she provided but both scanning the QR and inputting the activation code gave errors on the Mudita. The agent was friendly but not able to troubleshoot or solve. They suggested I go in store and see if getting a physical SIM would help. I am new to all of this and am just looking to just make the right calls and steps to make this as smooth as possible. Does anyone have any advice or insight on handling the Verizon transfer in particular? Thanks in advance!

I’ve been trying to find out more about this for a while… Best that I can tell from digging around the internet is that physical sims work; my phones are going to be here today, and the plan is to go immediately to vzw and test it.

I’ll follow up here for anyone else interested

So, I went to Verizon to 1) Get a physical SIM for my existing phone line as my defunct flip had an e-SIM, and; 2) Open a new line with a physical SIM for my youngest son.

Long story short, the very kind worker could not make it work no matter what they tried, and now I either have to return both phones, screensavers, and cases or cancel my Verizon account, pay the balance, and transfer all 4 lines to a different, less stable network.

I’m so angry at both Verizon and Mudita right now… I’ve been asking about this for weeks, and have not once been given a straight answer. So far, this is not a calm or mindful experience in the least. :rage:

Oh no. That’s not the greatest news. I too went to Verizon and the rep was very kind and extremely interested in the phone. Really loved it, but also could not help get it working. The eSIM transfer failed multiple times. He gave me a physical SIM and told me to try Tech Support online or phone and see if they can override and get it activated. I am currently in this process on a chat. I have the SIM card in the Kompakt and it is recognising that the carrier is Verizon etc. However it says the phone number on SIM is Not Available. They are still working on it and using my wife’s line to verify and confirm things. Will give you the real time update if it goes through. I am curious if you got this far in the store? My store rep said he didn’t have authorization to override things so Tech Support via the app or call was the route.

My rep didn’t give me a sim to roll with, but tried both a phsyical sim in the store and eSim, both to no avail. It wouldn’t get past a certain part in the process regardless of how they tried to address it.

Crossing my fingers for you; good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

I appreciate it. Yeah they continually say that they are struggling to activate it because it is not an “eligible device”. It is all pretty disappointing. I would have thought that Mudita would have been ahead of the curve with release and notifying the carriers of the devices that are incoming so they could be whitelisted.

If you decide to leave Verizon Wireless, then you may want to check on whether another carrier has a “We will pay your balance owed and the early-termination fee.” offer to entice you to make the switch.

I had a physical sim and it worked no problem, maybe go to a verizon star and just a physical one. should be simple enough. good luck

I was able to get my phone to work on VZW just fine. Take the SIM card out of the old phone and pop it into the NA-optimized MK. I do have an older SIM card though (does not have a 5G logo on it). Not sure if that’s the issue, but just wanted to add a data point.

It seems to work if you already have a sim, but vzw can’t set up a new sim for the devices, either eSim or digital. So, cool if you already have one you can transfer, no help to those who don’t already have a sim or access to a random compatible phone to set a sim up.

So an update for this morning is I was able to us a physical SIM and activated it in an older iphone 11. I then just placed the SIM into the Kompakt. It is reading the SIM and has allowed me to send a message to my wife. She received it. She sent one back, it did not come through to me. I saw that it did go to the ipad that is connected to the phone line via icloud as well. I tried making a phone call to her. When I did that it said I was in airplane mode and I had to turn it off before making a call. I ensured I was not in airplane mode and tried again. Same result and error message. So I feel I have made some progress but still have quite a bit to resolve it would seem. Any info or tips are extremely appreciated and desperately welcomed!

Update! Just flipping the Offline mode switch on and off solved it and I am now able to make and receive calls and texts! Very glad to be over that hurdle. I would suggest anyone that is trying to do it grab an old phone that has a SIM slot. Ask family or friends to borrow an old one if they have it because all you need to do is use it to get the card activated and switch it over to the Kompakt.

I’m with att (sim listed as verizon), and I’ve tried probably a dozen times to get my sim to work. One time, it did work, and I was able to send texts, but it seemed my offline switch was malfunctioning. I figured I wouldn’t be able to use the phone, so I removed the sim, and it hasn’t worked since.

Is there anything you do on the second device in specific to get this to work? Everytime I put the sim in my old device, it connects to the network instantly, but the kompakt always has an issue. the one time I got the sim to work was after a factory reset, do you do that as well? Thanks

I did not do a factory reset. I first contacted Verizon and had an agent transfer my current eSIM to the Verizon physical sim in an old iphone of mine that was lying around. This allowed me to have a sim card and I tested and ensured it was all functioning and working on that device. I then simply put the sim in the kompakt and it recognized it right away. However at this point it was only receiving texts. I could not send them and I was not able to make or receive calls. It was giving me an alert that I was in airplane mode even though the airplane mode icon was not showing it was on. I flipped the Kompakts offline switch off and back on and it basically resolved itself. After that simple switch I was not getting the airplane mode alert and I was able to send text and make and receive calls. I have used it today and from what I can tell all is working and functioning correctly.

I will also note that by doing it this way I did get a text from Verizon notifying me that my SIM was placed in a non compatible device and it needed me to log into my account to give them more details about the device. I have yet to do that… I am going to see how it goes just not giving them details. To be honest it was a nightmare trying to get them to ALLOW me to use a device I brought to the table.

So yeah. I will drop any more updates and experiences that I may run into. I wish everyone the best of luck on their journey in trying to get theirs operating. The fact that it is this difficult for smaller independent companies to get into the game speaks to the greater problem we all are facing.

@jim_s I’m so sorry that you’re experiencing these issues. I know it must be super frustrating. Like I wrote previously, radio tests for Mudita Kompakt on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks have returned positive results. So, network connection should not be a problem. eSIM functionality has also been successfully tested.
If for some reason, you are having some challenges with activating, we recommend using another device initially (just for the activation process & then moving the SIM card over to Mudita Kompakt) or manually entering the APN settings if needed. Hopefully this helps.

I did this recommendation with a Verizon tech. The SIM card still did not work. It’s great that it works for some people but some of us have defective devices and are having a very difficult time getting the refund we were promised.

Would you be able to walk through, how the eSIM functionality was activated on Verizon? I have a brand new NA version and the agent states “I tried processing; but the activation is still receiving the error”. Is there a talking/chatting script you can provide to activate on Verizon; particularly what Verizon needs to do to make this work. It is deeply appreciated.

I was able to go into Verizon store and the tech guy made it work. He had to use a physical SIM; but it works.

I am still interested in getting how to do eSIM card and looking to Mudita to do a writeup similar to sideloading app.

@beyondgravity Welcome to the Mudita Forum. We’re glad you’re here. I would actually ask if this carrier supports transferring an eSIM to another device. Because not all carriers support transferring an eSIM to another phone. If that’s the case, you will have to ask for a physical SIM card. It happened to me.

As another datapoint, my local Verizon store wasn’t able to get either an eSIM or physical sim working on the Kompakt. I’ve shipped my return back to Mudita (hopefully).
