N26 on the Mudita Kompakt

Hello,

I’m trying to install the N26 bank app on my Mudita Kompakt.

The install went fine through Aurora Store but N26 does not find a camera. I manually gave access to the camera but it doesn’t work. I realize that I have a similar issue with Signal : pictures are full black, even though the app has access to the camera.

Is there a way for a sideloaded app to access the camera ?

You can try installing another camera app like Open Camera and then giving it access to the camera and then see if the banking app will then register that there is a camera.

That’s a very good idea. I was able to use the camera with Fossify camera but, by default, it was looking for the selfie camera.

I wonder if Signal and N26 are not making the same mistake (but problems might be unrelated as N26 displays an error while Signal displays a camera screen which remains black)

I tried with Open Camera and it told me that the camera was already in use by another app. Switching the offline button on and off several times fixed the issue for Open Camera but not for Signal nor N26

Upon further investigation, it seems N26 requires a selfie camera to identify you.
Also, I’m not sure it works without notifications

I have been using N26 app without a problem. I had black camera with Signal and N26 and it turns out the problem was the offline+ switch. You should try resetting or toggling the switch and that might fix the camera.
N26 might need face recognition for opening account but if you have already done that then all the other functions should work fine. (Except finding an ATM/deposit location seems to depend on google play services, but I am using this phone specifically NOT to have google play and I don’t deposit money in person so this is not a worry.)

@hman : thanks a lot for the feedback. It means it is possible !

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. N26 says that no camera were detected on the device. I’ve checked with OpenCamera and the camera works fine so it does not seem to be the issue.

When did you start using N26 on the Kompakt ? Could it be that they added a check in a recent version for the first login ?

Must not be more than a few weeks ago. Also downloaded on Aurora store. It took me a bit of work to get up and running. It wasn’t a camera related problem that gave me issues but pairing the device. Wish I could help more!

Did you remember if it was before or after the Kompakt 1.2 upgrade ? There might be some change on Mudita side which made N26 refuse to do a first login.

Would have been after 1.2 as I upgraded before installing any apps.

Thanks a lot. I wonder if it is something on my side or N26 changing the app.

Unfortunately, I could not find an older version on apkmirror.

N26 support made it clear that a selfie is required to use N26. @hman , I wonder how you managed to do it.
