Hey everyone, wanted to make sure this reaches the forum too.
I know a delay isn’t the news anyone was hoping for today. We do however (really) appreciate your patience while
we take the time to get this right, and we’ll be sharing another progress update within a week!
Update: 03.04.2026
We’ve successfully identified the root cause of the issue and the team is currently working on the fix.
While we aren’t quite ready to share an exact release date today, we are really close to getting rid of the blocker.
Maybe the 15% discount to celebrate World Sleep Day, which ends tomorrow, will get replaced with a similar discount to celebrate the release of the super-awesome-ized v1.5.0?
Thanks for the open and transparent communication. From my side, I am very happy with the device as it is, and while I will surely enjoy improvements, I even more enjoy the stability of this core device. So thank you as well for making quality a priority and not rushing this.
I dont need fancy new functions, I am pretty happy with how the phone is working now. Important for me would be that major bugs of essential functions are adressed like missing SMS or SD cards not working. I really hope the SD card problem will be fixed in the new update…
I also hope they’ve fixed the existing bugs first before adding new features again. The SD card issue, the incorrect sorting of songs in albums (not sorted by track number), and the keyboard, which isn’t really usable. The sound issue when Offline+ mode is enabled. If all of that isn’t fixed yet, but new features are added instead, that would definitely be setting the wrong priorities.
I still find it unbelievable that we have to wait months for the next major update instead of releasing smaller bug fixes in between. The Mudita has been on the market for almost a year now, and so many bugs still haven’t been fixed, and some of the pre-installed apps still don’t have full functionality. It’s really a shame.
But I do think it’s a good call not to release the update because a problem has cropped up. I wish they’d done the same back when the SMS bug happened. I don’t care if it takes an extra week or two. The damage caused by a faulty update is much worse. Especially for people like me, for whom the Kompakt is the only device. It just has to work.
Keyphone seems more like Sidephone competitor. Similar price point to MK, but closer to Sidephone with form factor and functionality. Sidephone seems a bit more flexible re applications,

Never heard of this phone, so I went to check their website and encountered a lot of issues with just their EXPLORE aka PRODUCT page. Here is ONE example as I don’t want this to be an ad for this device on a Mudita forum lol:
Note that they even have the same “key features” like removable battery and 64gb internal storage TWICE. When you scroll down, some buttons don’t work or are CUT OFF in the middle. In a jpg listing the app suite they have listed gallery TWICE. The website screams “vibe coded” within a week timespan to me, not even corrected post hoc afterwards. This definitely DOESN’T give me ANY confidence at all in the product. Their OS is just a reskin, based on what they are saying which is one of the major selling points of Mudita - privacy aspect, and ZERO google.
Okay, I gotta keep ranting: what is their design team doing??? They upload a bunch of low resolution pictures that are SOO bland and scream “stock” (like they just paid someone to blindly free pictures from a stock gallery which NORMALLY would at least result in higher resolution pictures. There is PLENTY of free ones…). Not only that, their product images are all blurry, why couldn’t they get high quality images of their OWN product? It looks like a complete scam. Them releasing updates “quickly” in combination with such poor attention detail shows to me that they do not care about the product or the customer and I am suspecting a cheap grift to see how much money they can make as they establish themselves as a ‘competitor’ on the currently growing dumbphone market.
Edit: contrast that with Mudita Team where every decision and design decision they make is absolutely intentional. Watch how the communicate with their users on the forum. Yes, they might be somewhat slow with updates and roll-outs but I am convinced it is because they want to ensure ABSOLUTE quality and do not want to add additional clutter in an already cluttered world. I absolutely respect them for this attitude and will back up a company that sticks to their principles any day. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I like the product concept, but apparently there are a lot of bugs still, and the qwerty keyboard is too small for most people so you have to get the normal T9 keypad. The ‘compact qwerty’ of their competitor Sidephone seems to work a lot better. However, if people just want a minimalist small-screened Android phone with keypad, I recommend them to wait for the Dumber Mini. Almost half the price in Europe, open-source (sidephone is not), and includes NFC and has microG installed by default so you have push notifications. But I have to say, having used a small-screened Android phone myself: it’s not as calming as a Mudita Kompakt.
