Nice idea, but it has all the apps I don’t want, but lacks the ones I want.

Still waiting for the right phone, which will probably never be made…

agreed …. I feel the same, I think the mudita is close, but I keep coming accross new bugs with it, that makes me think otherwise. graphene os on my pixel 7a is the closest to the “right phone” Ive found but the battery is quite poor on it, by comparisson. the OS is excellent though.

What bugs are you running into? The biggest one I’ve had so far is GPS is not working and Maps constantly crashing. I’ve since switched to CalmMaps and the experience has been so much better.

I had a lot of battery drain early on, which I have overcome by better app selection

I was also getting miss called and messages, that did not appear anywhere on the recent calls or in the message app, i would get an audible tone but nothing else. I did a factory reset and it appears to have calmed down.

Recently I installed signal, it worked really well but I found it was a big drain on my battery. I replaced it with Molly which also worked really well. I installed killapp to make shutting molly down easier than going through settings. Ironically it was killing my battery. I did another factory reset a couple of days ago and left killapp off, everything seems to be good again, but its a real pain, not being able to close apps in an easier way than doing each one separately from the setting menu.

Despite all of this I still like the Mudita, but I can be frustrating at times

Hmm… Makes me wonder. Are those apps (Whatspp, Signal etc) inherently CPU consuming ? Or is it due to the underlying OS / Kompakt hardware ?

There is an app blocker on it, and ofc you can add your own apps. Fun enough you can choose to go with Google Play or without

Where did you get this information from ? On their purchase page I only see a black/white version and a colour keys version, but it says nothing about being able to use “any” app. It says “WhatsApp, Messenger”, but who knows which kinds of messengers it supports. Some might work, some might not. It also has a front camera, which I would rather not have.

Every time this thread shows an update, I hope there’s news about MuditaOS K 1.5.0, but it seems it’s drifting away from it’s original topic further and further (this is a general comment and not specifically addressed to someone). Tomorrow a week has gone by so I hope we get another status update.

I have a Qin F21 Pro with their Dumber OS, so I have hands on experience. You can ask me, I can check it for you. I have the de-googled version.

I agree someone posts a comment that is connected but slightly drifts from the original post subject, someone else replies, and then it develops into more of a tangent.

I do find it interesting to hear other peoples opinions on alternative devices though, even though many of us have completely different opinions on what the perfect minmalist phone should do.

Interesting? Yes, I agree. But I’d prefer another thread, so we can solely use for the highly anticipated, upcoming release (if Mudita would allow that. After all, it’s their community forum).

I agree, and unfortunately the forum right now is a bit of a wild west situation. In parallel to other things I’m working on, there’s a revitalization project that should kick off in H2. We’ll be making things way clearer, tidying up, and bringing it towards a bit more structure with proper guidelines and moderation.

But yeah! My OG gamer side appreciates the forum energy, but my old inner mod does keep me up at nights  .
It’s hard to enforce things now given how things have evolved historically, but the future looks bright!

In the meantime, I’m locking this thread, and moving forward we’ll keep official ones locked too, for proper visibility.

Hey everyone, here is your latest progress update on 1.5.0!

Following up on last week, we have successfully implemented the fix for the blocker.
The team has now moved on to the testing phase to make sure everything is perfectly stable and working as expected.

While we are still finalizing things, we are making solid progress. You can expect another update from us within a week.

Ps. Yes, we’re hopeful on releasing the update this month

Hey everyone, a quick update on 1.5.0.

Unfortunately, a few more things came up during testing that we need to sort out before release. Nothing we can’t handle, but we’d rather take the time and get it right than rush something out. We know waiting isn’t fun, especially when you’re looking forward to what’s coming, and we appreciate you hanging in there!

Please expect the next update in the first week of May.
